Highlights

Some thoughts looking back:

-Man, I miss the Georgia Dome. What an awesome atmosphere that building had…

-We just look different now. That team played its arse off, but they were just physically inferior to what we’re putting on the field these days. No way 2016 Georgia offense scores a point on our 2021 defense unless Chubb just has some insane 80-yard run.

-We’ve had good running backs since 2017, but you should go back and watch Nick Chubb tape every now and then just to remember the difference between a great RB and an all-time great RB. He was on another level.

-Some Georgia football names you may have forgotten: Brandon Kublanow, Jeb Blazevich, Michael Chigbu, Juwuan Briscoe, Quincy Mauger and William Ham

-North Carolina had some dudes on offense that year. They probably should’ve beaten us that night. TJ Logan, Elijah Hood and Ryan Switzer were pretty nasty. That bomb from Eason to IMac in the 4th really turned that game around.

-Do we have QB controversy every damn year? I totally forgot about the Grayson Lambert/Jacob Eason saga

-Maurice Smith may be the one of the most important players in the Kirby era that no one ever talks about these days. He looked in 2016 like our DB’s look now. I think bringing him over from Bama was huge because he probably helped coach up a lot of those dudes that ended up leading that great 2017 defense. He was a step above the rest of the D that year

Overall, really fun to watch where this era started knowing now that it eventually led to a championship.

Here’s to more championships to come

That’s some strong off season effort right there.

Talent discrepancy is obvious. It's neat to see guys like Roquan not playing very well knowing what he'd grow in to.

I was suppose to goto thay game but there was a threat of a Hurricane so they canceled Friday night football. Aiken pushed theirs to Monday. Augusta made us play on Saturday.

Great game and a great comeback showing for Nick Chubb.

I remember being so used to the subdued nature of Richt that I found myself in shambles and clutching a pillow over my face watching Kirby run around and jumping up and down. I said to one of my buddies that I may be too old to watch Kirby week end and week out. But man not only have I learned to cope, I’ve learned to love the man and what he’s done for our university.

ETA not only for our university but for the entire state of Georgia

222 yards for Chubb was a great performance, but you could see he didn't have that extra gear at that point after his injury. It really wasn't until his rookie year with the Browns before he had that speed back.

If we had Chubb and Sony on this year's team, it would have been unfair for CFB. And really, we whipped every team except Bama and Clemson anyway.

Yah, Chubb was great and good point he lost a gear after the knee injury. I remember watching him his freshman year and thinking that guy was as good as Hershel. We have had good backs since but I hope we start getting more superstar/generational guys like Chubb and Gurley. 2016 was a fun year but tough at the same time.

Off the top of my head, the 2016 team on a good day would have punched 2009, 2010, and 2015 in the face.

Not as bad as the 2010 team that lost to UCF. I was disgusted at the players AND coaches during and after that game.

I would take that 2010 team over 2016.
