LSU fans are absolutely terrified that he does win one.

I thought Napier would be hired because I did not think LSU would go after Brian Kelly because of ND. Of the two, BK is the better hire at this point.

If he’s able to consistently pull top 5 classes, sure, he’ll have a chance. Kirby proved that if you can consistently pull highly ranked classes eventually you’ll break through. The 2023 class be a big indicator of how his tenure will go.

I think he will. I'm higher on Napier than I ever was on Kirby when he left Bama. Napier is more proven than Kirby upon getting a Power 5 head coaching job plus Napier has already failed as OC at Clemson. Failure is a great teacher. Napier seems to have things humming organizationally and Florida has upgraded their facilities. Napier has put together a serious staff. If things continue I do think Napier will make Florida the choice program in the State of Florida. I say that because Cristobal is showing he can recruit but he still has 6 openings on his staff and both coordinator spots are open and we are upon Signing Day. Shemar Stewart, a 5 star, from south Florida has said he wants to know who the DC will be and what kind of defensive scheme they will run. That's a fair. The only people on Cristobal's staff so far are guys who came from Oregon with him. And, Norvell at FSU? No. That job will be Deion's in about 2-3 years.

It’s way too early to tell. Do I think it will happen within 2 years….no. Not with saban still at bama. I think they will be behind UGA/KY/TENN in the East.
Napier was a high risk/high reward hire. He is young and so far successful. Could he be the next urban or the next Herman, or somewhere in between.
The SEC is loaded with both good coaches and with great coaches. Good coaches will have a much tougher time winning the SEC, and even harder time winning it all.

The real question is if Florida will give Napier enough time to build his program first. Too many coaches get fired before they have time to bring in a full roster of players they've recruited.

Please for the love of Pete let this happen.

With the portal, what do you think is adequate time? I think 3-4 seasons is enough to gauge what kind of coach you have.

Faster than Kirby did? Nah.

That's a no from me, dawg.
took Jackson State to 11-2 this year and signed the #1 recruit in the country to an FCS team.
Guy has Barstool money behind him, panache and fame and will run roughshod over CFB if he gets an FBS job.

Exactly. The word was Deion was told by FSU when they were last open to get some experience. Now, Deion is getting experience and he's recruiting at unprecedented levels for an FCS school. If FSU doesn't pull the plug on Norvell and make a move on Deion that might set them back for years.

Took Kirby six years. No coach has lasted 6 years at UF since Spurrier left. It seems Gator fans don't have the patience Georgia does.

Honestly, if they get him FSU could have a Bama-like run on CFB.
Doesn't matter if he can't coach a lick, the talent there would be impossible to hold back.

Unless the coach just proves he is completely over his head he should get 4 years minimum. Coaches can use the portal to fill holes but recruiting is how you build a program with players to match your scheme.

Georgia keeps their HC's a LONG time. Looks like it paid off with Kirby though.

Filling holes via the portal is why I think guys shouldn't get as long as they got to prove themselves pre-portal. You can find IMPACT guys via the portal at positions that can turn your program around instantly.

Florida won't keep a head coach as long UGA because they are in a more competitive state. And, frankly Florida should have pulled the plug on Mullen when they did because Mullen had too much experience to let a program like Florida slip.

So you are saying that you’d fire a coach who had the success Kirby did in years 1-5? Because I don’t think you would. Didn’t take much patience, the guy was u we successful unlike all the coaches you’ve fired.
