On Perkins' recruitment, it seems to be a three way tie currently between A&M, Florida, and LSU.
Interesting that both LSU and Florida were able to make up so much ground despite going through coaching changes.

Didn't have to say anything.
It's likely they wouldn't even be considering LSU if they didn't like the coaches so not sure why she'd have to "help" her son in that case.

The question is not if he can recruit southern kids. It’s can he recruit at all.

Beginning as far back as Paul Dietzel, only two head FB coaches at LSU were from Louisiana, Jerry Stovall (who replaced Ohio native Bo Rein who died in a plane crash) and Ed Orgeron. Only two others were really Southern, Charles McClendon (Ark.) and Curley Hallman (Ala.) The rest were Midwesterners or played in the Midwest or Miami, Arnsparger, Archer DiNardo, Saban and Miles. So why people acted like it was a big deal to hire a coach who wasn’t from the South at LSU is bit strange.

If we are being honest, the southern vs Yankee dilemma is a white person's narrative
He isn't recruiting a majority roster of young southern white kids.
A coach that runs a tight organization, has a track record of success, and can find a way to sell that and the program on the recruiting trail in a way that speaks to the opportunity it creates for the athlete will do well.
Kelly is a good coach and will do very well at LSU.
