So what is actually changing in this law?

If Saban is directly involved in NIL deals himself he's committing NCAA violations.
Also:
Alabama - State Income Tax
Texas - No State Income Tax

This reminds me that Kay Ivey needs to go ahead and just have a heart attack already and hit the grave.

I get the feeling these laws are about to change everywhere.

Consider it repealed. The legislature is in session and there seems to be no obstacles to repealing it.

shite was off the tracks after Bryce had a 7 figure NIL bundle before taking a meaningful snap. It worked out with him winning the Heisman and being a stud and all, but they seemingly had no issues with getting BY 7 figs with whatever law that is being referenced.

Per Bro Bible (yikes)
Seems like a minor change to me.
quote:
A coach can then say to a recruit something along the lines of “I know of X amount of money that is available in NIL should you choose to enroll at X school.” And then, if the recruit chooses that program, those deals can be inked and paid out upon enrollment.
Based on the current legal restrictions, Alabama boosters can’t do that. Texas A&M boosters, and countless others, are.
When the law is repealed, the handcuffs on Saban and Bryan Harsin are removed. Look out.
Seems like a minor change to me.

If saban wants it, he'll get if from the Ala. Legislature.

I don't think Alabama's state laws on NIL were particularly cumbersome.

These seem like the two big ones that could lead to a material benefit for an industrious football program:
But I'm pretty sure the NCAA does not allow that anyway...

This law changes next to nothing.

Right now state law prohibits tying NIL money to attending/playing for a school. This is the case in some states but is not the case in others. It's why Charlie Batch can get on Twitter and offer Caleb Williams $1 million to come to his school but an alum of Alabama can't do the same thing.
