Recap of the Refs

Not something I need to beat to death since we won but it felt like they were pissing me off every drive.
Besides the Bryce non fumble and Stets called incomplete pass ruled a fumble...
Non call push off on Bama receiver on their TD. Herbstreit even said they got away with one there.
Non call of their edge jumping the gun offsides making a sack
Hand to the face call was ticky tack I swear Bama did way worse and no call
Offsides for making contact with the offensive lineman. Didn't look like we made contact but Ill watch again
Why in the hell is a non contact fair catch interference that had no effect on the play a 15 yd penalty? Also if they are going to nit pick they could have called that on Bama later in the game
We have seen holding not called all year so nothing new there. One would think when the edge has the OT beat except OT has arm locked around his neck as if to put in a choke hold that would be holding.
The delay of game on To'To. Looked like he was pounding his fist to open hand as a signal I could not tell if it made a clapping sound but maybe that is what he was doing in the SEC Championship to cause the bad snap or did he literally clap his hands? Pretty sure that was to set the tone on that due to the previous game
What am I missing?

Why is it every time we play them we end up with bullshite penalties like McIntosh’s kick return. Go back and watch 20 for UGA and he doesn’t do shite just throws his hands up. That ended up a 47 yard penalty.

crazy it always happens when the runner has already passed that defender anyways

I couldn't believe the fumble call on Stetson because his arm was moving forward. The hit affected the throw but it still was a forward pass. I would love to hear the refs explanation on that. Unreal the refs would make a call like that at such a critical point in the game. The Bryce fumble his arm was pushed forward and then they still didn't call intentional grounding.

To be fair, they let Ringo and company mug receivers all night without throwing a flag. I was pretty excited about that.

If the ball or qbs arm is hit they will not call grounding

Don’t forget Latu spiking the ball and almost hitting the ref with it and they still didn’t call that a penalty.
We got away with some PI’s, but that doesn’t change the fact those refs were clearly slanted in Bama’s favor with too many other calls.
All moot in the end, though.

We had intentional grounding called earlier in the season on a similar play.
Stetson flushed the pocket to his right. Was near the sideline (way out of the pocket). He was being horsecollar tackled (penalty thrown). They called intentional grounding because his throw didnt cross the line of scrimmage. Again... he was being illegally tackled in a fashion that could end a career (thus the penalty).
The penalties were offsetting.

He also pushed off our defender before he caught it. Like literally threw him to the ground.

As a fellow official.....
They were excellent last night. The only call that I had any issue w/was the first hands to the face. That one was a little ticky-tack. Other than that, everything else was there.
A solid A-

Then it's essentially a fumble.

You have to give the receiver ample room to make the catch. Contact is not a prerequisite for KCI.

If he makes the catch then obviously he had ample room. There is no specified halo around the catch. It is entirely a judgement call, which is why Alabama gets four or five calls in their favor every season.

I've seen that exact same play hundreds of times w/out a flag being dropped.
So what is meant by "ample room" anyway? Is it subjective?

I don't disagree with the flag especially the way he got up on him as to taunt. I don't like 15 yds instead of 5. It is not personal foul type of thing.
Also correction on Will Anderson non call for offsides. It was not a sack but was key in blowing up the reverse to McConkey and would have resulted in a first down. Instead its 3rd and 8 leading to the Stet fumble play which would not have happened if they got it right.

You don't understand the rule then.
You can be interfered with and not have any contact. The receiver was moved off of his spot due to the actions of the K player getting too close. Thus, ample room.
Yes, it is a judgement call. But so are most calls that we make.

That flag works like this, if they catch it they were not interferred with, if they drop it, that is when the flag comes out.

You guys are like police officers. Always covering for each other when someone makes a mistake. "It's not my call", "I didn't see it", "I'll go ask him what he saw. He said blah blah blah". . .

Amazed at the commitment of both OL to not have a single holding call the entire game. Pure talent.
