The quote below was posted in a thread discussing wether or not we think LSU will be able to play in their bowl game if we lose more players. We are at 51 scholarship players as of now. LSU has somewhere around 40 walk ons available if the information posted, in a different reply than the one below, is correct.

The above paragraph isn’t what this thread is about though. This thread is about the validity of the quote below and if it is correct, does this change anything with how Aggie is viewed here or does it maybe even prove that they couldn’t play by ncaa rule , even if they wanted to?

What do y’all know about this?

quote:

It is not false information. The number that the NCAA goes by to determine if a team has enough players is based upon scholarship athletes not the total number of the roster

No. NCAA routinely gives exceptions for this. Pretty common.

It isn't "facts."

The NCAA doesn't require a team to have a minimum number of scholarship players to play a game.

One team during the true Covid year of 2020 took less than 45 players to battle between the hedges in Athens. They could have stuck to the NCAA rulebook and forfeited, but chose to face what was before them. In the end they did lose a hard fought contest, but they did win the right for everyone who wants to ridicule about teams wanting to puss out for poor roster management.

I don’t really understand this rule. If a team wants to put a bunch of walk ins out then why not

It isn't an NCAA rule, it was somewhat of an SEC guideline in 2020 but several teams played with less than the 53 required.

It was just an out for teams with decimated rosters.

A&M bitched out 9 days before the game was going to be played. Most, if not all of them, are probably 100% today and the game is still 5 days away.

I'd rather they play and lose so they can no longer claim to be the only SEC school without a losing season this century.

Did you want each player to personally drive to the game? They were going home for Christmas and then flying commercial to Florida from across the state and country.

Actually it is just the opposite. There are more players out now. You do realize that they have to practice as well.

I’m not trying to change any opinions here because that is damn foolish; however, how many days are the positive cases kept out of action or away from other players?
