Adorable.
What do you think was being said back in 1991?
ummm...you realize every rivalry I posted, all 6 of em, have been around long before 1991 annually and are still now played every year annually after 1991, right?

Sorry, this makes no sense. So you are saying two POD champs will be left out of the SECCG? That means every year two PODS are worthless. Why go to PODS then?
Because it sets up the SEC to have 2 teams in the SEC Champ game and 1 or 2 teams with 1 or 2 losses to get at large bids for playoffs.
By creating a semifinal for the SEC championship game you give 2 of your top 4 an extra loss which hurts your chance of getting 3-4 teams in the playoffs

Once again, it doesn't work because Auburn and Georgia aren't in the same pod.
This will fall into the non annual rivalry game lot. A handful of rivalries will not be able to be played annual
They can still play most of them. Just have one fixed opponent from every other pod.

This is true
Which is why you only want to have a single championship game and not three of the four better teams ending with a loss

Is there any format that doesn't do this?

And I don't even know what kind of crack headed thought this is.

Complicates the POD matchups rotating.
If they wanted to save all those rivalry matchups they would keep divisions with...
East - Bama, Aub, FL, GA, S.C., Kent, Tenn, and Vandy
West - Ark, OK, LSU, TX, Aggies, O.M., St, and MO
With 2 cross division games.

I don't see how.
You still rotate the pods around either way. You still have nine conference games a year in every proposal I've seen
ETA nine or ten for most proposals

Hence why I said:
Because it sets up the SEC to have 2 teams in the SEC Champ game and 1 or 2 teams with 1 or 2 losses to get at large bids for playoffs.
To recap:
2 teams playing for conference championship along with two 1-2 loss teams looking for an at-large bid.
So possibly 4 teams getting in the playoffs.

You go to pods so you can rotate them to keep everyone in the same conference playing each other on a regular basis.

No pods. Keep the SECE and SECW divisions. Put Bama and AU in SECE which preserves all the rivalries wanted by Ala, Tenn, and UGA. MIzzou plus OU/TX to the SECW.
Play 7 division games and 2 games from other division for 9 SEC games per year. No permanent crossdivision games.

Oh, so on top of all this, you also want 12 team playoffs?
I don't care what you do at that point because I won't be watching.

Because when your pod rotates to the pod you have a permanent game with that game has to be replaced by another conference game. Because every team has a permanent cross pod game the schedules aren't as flexible.
It's doable but more complicated.

If you have a fixed opponent from each of the three other pods this becomes a non issue and preserves rivalry games

You can preserve them without fixed opponents. See my post on page 3. When your rival isn’t in your pod or the pod you play that season, one of the 2 remaining games on the schedule can be used to preserve that rivalry game. It doesn’t require everyone to have a fixed opponent.

Given the complexity I tend to disagree. Otherwise you can end up with irrational things like conference opponents not being official conference games. Plus the typical shenanigans where teams try to find a competitive advantage

True but I think the are going to rotate the pods so everyone plays everyone within a 4 year period
Year 1
Pod A will play Pod B
Pod C will play Pod D
Year 2
Pod A will play Pod C
Pod B will play Pod D
Year 3
Pod A will play Pod D
Pod B will play Pod C
They could rotate every 2 years instead of 1 so it will allow home and home games on consecutive years.

The best way to get more teams into the expanded playoffs is ; keep the decades old 8 conference games, no pods, no divisions, no rivalries.....just juggle the schedule to keep the top 5 teams with the weakest schedule possible......
However, I think one rivalry game per team will survive due to demand

This thread should be labeled "The quickest ways to kill off college football".
It's just full of people who have no understanding of football trying to solve problems that don't exist.
When are any of you going to learn that the all this shite you keep pushing for is just making the sport worse?

Yes. But with or without the fixed opponents it still takes six years to complete home/away rotations through the whole conference
But we've been told historical rivalries were important. When there's not even a down side they might as well play them.
And do the home/away on consecutive years. It makes every opponent played into at least a two game series (and avoids changing the divisions literally every year)

Even if teams aren't matched in the same pod, they'll play every other year. I think it's a good compromise even though I probably won't like LSU's pod.
How I would do it:
Oklahoma
Texas
Arkansas
Texas A&M
Mizzou
Kentucky
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Auburn
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss St
Alabama
They would never do this because it wouldn't protect the sacred calf that is Tennessee vs Alabama, and Texas A&M would throw a world class hissy about having to play Texas every year.
So, what is more likely is:
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Mizzou
Texas
Texas A&M
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss St
Tennessee
Vandy
Alabama
Kentucky
Georgia
Auburn
Florida
South Carolina
In this scenario, the only big losses are Florida vs Tennessee, and the Iron Bowl, which I'm sure the REC would love to live without half the time.
