I think that's the ideal split. I'd make it two out-of-pod permanent opponents, for a 9 game schedule (3 games against pod, 2 games against permanents, 4 games against annual pod).
The bonus of the 2 permanent is that you keep absolutely every important annual game (ie LSU/Bama and LSU/Ark); create some potentially great new annual rivalries (ie UGA/Texas every year) AND you get a lot of wild cards each year because there will be overlap between the permanent opponents and the annual cross pod. It'll allow the SEC to create some compelling matchups based on how the teams are actually projected that year.

The commissioner has stated that Pods would be looked at not guaranteed.

Adorable.
What do you think was being said back in 1991?

"State the obvious?" You're post contained a statement that's obviously false to anyone who's been following SEC football for longer than 6 weeks.

No way they split OK and Texas. Switch Aggies and OK.

10 game conference schedule. One permanent game against a team from another pod. Play the other 6 games against two teams from each of the other pods.
I don't think the schools will agree to only 2 OOC games per year with a 10 game conference schedule.
9 conference games max.
I think you will play your POD and another pod for 7 games plus 1 team from the other 2 pods for 9 games.
The Pod your Pod is assigned to play will rotate every 2 years allowing for a home and home before the pods rotate.
They will protect the Bama/Tenn, O.M./Miss St, Bama/Aub, Georgia/Florida and Texas/OK by putting those teams in pods together.
All other rivalry games will be on the chopping block and won't be annual.
No permanent cross Pod games.

pisses me off to this very day.
Some of the best games I have ever seen were between UF/AU. This is why I am hoping they put Tex/Okl. in the West and move us and bama to the East. UF and Tenn. are more natural rivals than anybody in the West not named bama.

We all know the goal for the SEC is to make as much money as possible. Our staple rivalries will not be the basis of the final decision.

With rotating pods...you will play each team in other pods a minnimum of 1 per 4 years and I think 3 times within 6 years.

Here is the thing with PODS........and I have stated this numerous times
You will have four teams (POD CHAMPS) playing an extra game. Two teams will play an additional game (SECCG). Either we start the season a week early, which will put our "rivalry weekend" the week before Thanksgiving............or we play the SECCG on Army/Navy Saturday. All options would suck.

Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Vandy
LSU, Texas A&M, MSU, Ole Miss
Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Mizzou
UGA, Florida, Kentucky, USCe
If they do pods, I think this'd be the best setup right now, based on school location and competitive balance. Hopefully, they'll go to 9 conference games where you play every team in your pod, 4 teams from a pod that rotates yearly, and 2 teams from another pod (the next year, you'd play the other two teams from the same pod); this way, you play every team in two years. And the teams with the two best conference records would play in the SECCG. The biggest drawback to this is that the DSOR would only be played every two years, along with some other rivalries...

If you are talking about your earlier post, then all you did was demonstrate that it didn't work as you still needed to have cross rivalry games.

1. Bama, Aub, Tenn, Vandy,

The West has a bunch of possibilites...
Option 1: Ark, OK, TX, MO
LSU, Aggies, O.M., St
Optuon 2: OK, TX, Aggies, Ark

Auburn and Georgia in separate pods means it doesn't work.

Once again, it doesn't work because Auburn and Georgia aren't in the same pod.

If the pods get approved, this is what it likely will be:
POD 1
Auburn
Alabama
UT
Vandy
POD 2
Georgia
Florida
USC
UK
POD 3
LSU
aTm
Ole Miss
MSU
POD4
Texas
Oklahoma
Arky
Mizzou
9 game conference schedule:
Year 1
PODs 1 and 2 play each other (7 games) and then have 2 other games against teams from pods 3 and 4 that can be used to preserve rivalry games should they not be maintained by the POD games.
SECCG POD 1 and 2 best record v pod 3 and 4 best record
Year 2
PODs 1 and 3 play each other (7 games) and then have 2 other games against teams from pods 2 and 4 that can be used to preserve rivalry games should they not be maintained by the POD games.
SECCG POD 1 and 3 best record v pod 2 and 4 best record
Year 3
PODs 1 and 4 play each other (7 games) and then have 2 other games against teams from pods 2 and 3 that can be used to preserve rivalry games should they not be maintained by the POD games.
SECCG POD 1 and 4 best record v pod 2 and 3 best record

No extra game. 2 teams with most conf wins go to the SEC Champ.

This will fall into the non annual rivalry game lot. A handful of rivalries will not be able to be played annual.

Sorry, this makes no sense. So you are saying two POD champs will be left out of the SECCG? That means every year two PODS are worthless. Why go to PODS then?
ETA and what happens if you have an undefeated team and three POD champs with one loss. This POD thing is a clustermess waiting to happen.
