They weren't beating Alabama with JT either. JT didn't allow 41 points on defense.

lets assume for one second to believe this. not saying I do, but lets believe it.
Why wouldnt Kirby be okay with sitting him one more week? You have a backup who was pretty good, and you were going to win your regular season games regardless of who played back there. Let the kid get 100% physically and mentally and then play him.
So if this was true, it is really dumb of kirby to have a falling out over a kids health

Then, at this point, you get that doctor crap out in the open. Otherwise, he looks like the same guy making dumb decisions about Eason and Fields.

That's a post from the dawgvent. Ya know, a message board like this one.
Fact is we are likely never going ot know the real answer but generally the easiest solution is probably right; daniels got hurt (fact), bennett played well in relief and we kept winning big (fact), so kirby just let him keep playing (speculation). I don't think there's anything nefarious or crazy about it. I certainly don't believe parents' doctors are a reason.

I agree with your point but the UGA defense didn’t allow 41 either. Although he played way better than I expected Stetson still threw a pick 6

Saban methodically picked apart one of the most talented Defenses of all time. It was insane.
Oh well Kirby benching a 5 star in favor of a walk-on over some petty bullshite definitely helps Ole Miss with Arch Manning.

That is 100% how I read the tea leaves.

It has always looked to me like JT has a medical issue that experts disagree on as far as time tables.
I would not play him at all.
The Bama game turned on a midfield fumble that all Georgia had to do was fall on it. Instead Heisman QB finds a way to recover the ball, score right before and after half, then quick pick 6 And game over.
The best team won. JT would not have made a difference.

I don't have a dog in this fight (no pun intended), but if JT is healthy, I'd start him in the CFP. What do UGA fans think?

JT just needs to get out of Athens

Disagree.
He's nowhere near as mobile as Bennett and throws interceptions at a higher rate.
It would have been A LOT uglier if Daniels had been the UGA QB.

Guy coming off an injury who hasn't payed hardly all year against that Bama defense in the biggest high pressure game of the year?
What could go wrong?

beacuse our defense did the exact opposite of not only what it had done all year that worked well, but also the opposite of what we know from film disrupts alabama. It was mind boggling.
I posted elsewhere but the ONLY explanation I can come up with is that kirby went "ok, we can clearly see from LSU and AU how to defend alabama. Alabama knows that we know this. So they'll probably switch it up and do XYZ, so we need to do such and such so defend XYZ". Instead of just doing that has shown to work.
Instead of blitzing the shite out of them and playing tight man coverage, we played a soft zone, didn't rush many guys, and even when we did our DL seemed to be playing contain to try to not let Young run around. Which is just head scratchingly bad game planning.

I can say this as a close friend of a parent of an SEC starter who recently had a season-ending injury requiring surgery: The parents' loyalty and agenda is always going to be 1,000% for the best long-term health of their child, and absolutely 0% toward the football program.

I hope it's so for the simple fact that if Kirby Smart lets relatively trivial things like this impact how he manages the program, rather than what is best to win games and championships, then UGA won't be much to worry about.

I am not sure what Kirby was supposed to do differently? If the kid is going go against the team doctors advice and go with his own doctors advice, then fine. However, you had Bennett in there who was winning up until Saturday. Sounds like Kirby wanted Daniels back earlier but Daniels didn't think he was ready so they rolled with the guy who was getting it done.
