He knows football trivia. On his radio show this week (similar to Tiger Talk) he was discussing Auburn history. Holy shite, he knows a lot about the Dye years and went in depth about the '83 team. Link below:

He ain't wrong.

I was on a train in Europe during that Sugar bowl. Got to Frankfurt early in the morning to fly back. We were waiting outside the USO office when they opened. Went in and asked for the bowl scores. As the guy read off that Miami had beaten Nebraska, Georgia had beaten Texas, and we had beaten Michigan, a celebration ensued. Thought we were national champions the whole flight back, but found out that others thought differently.

Still think we ought to claim that one. Miscues in the first half cost us against Texas. We controlled the second half, but did not dig out of the hole we created. Seemed like every game was against a top ten team that year. Just a great season and a great team.

I'm still pissed about 1983. If I recall it right, 5 teams Auburn played that year ended in the top 10. Brutal schedule. Miami's schedule was weak by comparison and they had lost badly to Florida.

That was an impressive recollection. Jimbo does seem to know his college football history.

Need 1914 added as well. When you are undefeated and no one scored a single point on you all season, you can claim it

1. Miami (FL)
2. Nebraska
3. Auburn
4. Georgia
5. Texas
6. Florida
amazing bit of trivia: all 7 of the combined losses of the top 6 in the polls came at the hands of other teams in the top 6:

#1 Miami lost to #6 Florida
#2 Nebraska lost to #1 Miami
#3 Auburn lost to #5 Texas
#4 Georgia lost to #3 Auburn
#5 Texas lost to #4 Georgia
#6 Florida lost to #3 Auburn and #4 Georgia

excluding games against one another, they were a combined 56-0-2 (Georgia and Florida both had ties)

Right?

Dont want to make too much out of that impressive mind, but it is mindboggling at the time. We received help in 2013, Michigan State beat someone but I dont remember who lol and dont even dare ask for the score.

1983???? wow

He got his coaching start at AU on Terry Bowden's staff. IIRC he was married to a Bowden relative at one point.

More might have ended up there, if they had not played Auburn.
