LSU lost more personnel than past 15 champions

I remember Florida losing a lot of 2006, but didn't realize the extent. Tebow really covered up a lot of the issues I suppose; Auburn in 2011 comes close, and they interview former Aub WR Emory Blake

Update (8/31: 5:09 p.m.): "In the time since this article published, LSU also lost starting nickelback Kary Vincent, starting defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin and star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase to an opt out. With their departures, the Tigers return just five starters from their 2019 championship roster. That's the fewest of any national champion the last 15 years, which, as history shows, does not bode well for LSU."

Thinking back on Auburn’s post-title drop, Blake admits the team’s inexperience mattered. Competition for certain spots, especially quarterback, stretched into the season. That Auburn team still managed to win eight games. Where things truly started to spin, however, was in 2012. That Tigers team lost just five starters from the year prior. Yet that group, just two years removed from winning a title, fell to 3-9 overall.
“The personnel we had was really recruited for (Gus) Malzahn’s offense,” Blake said. “We brought in Scott Loeffler, who’s a good coach, but I don’t think, at that time, the personnel really fit the offense. We also had a different defensive coordinator that changed things up. It was just a switch of scheme with the personnel we had didn’t mesh well that year. And we fell short … a lot.”

Yeah we lost most of our team from our 6-6 team last year too. Cry me a river.

Interesting that today is the first time y’all realized this

Maybe y’all should have tempered expectations.

I hope this melt never ends, it’s absolutely delicious.
The sooner you clowns realize last year was a Chizik-esque performance the sooner you can move on.

Yes, you lost a lot, but not enough to get drug by Mississippi fkn State.
LSU finishes top 10 recruiting every year. State is lucky to be top 30. Really no excuses here

all of that had been pointed out but dismissed by LSU fans.
I mentioned last week that LSU was a very inexperienced team and bombarded by LSU fans telling me how wrong I was.

All of this. It can't be said any better than this.

I'd assume: Marshall, Stingley, Harris (even though he barely played last season), Farrell (just rejoined the team) and Deculus

But why does it matter now, when all last week, it didn't ?

That didn't matter to LSU fans before Mississippi State. Coach O was an elite HC, Brennan was set for the Heisman, and the SEC was fricked.

LSU still scored 35 points with a new QB. They gonna beat most teams if they score plus 30.
It is pretty crazy LSU pays less for a DC than Baylor.

We don't lose 35 players and have severely limited practice every year

SU lost more personnel than past 15 champions
MSU had no business staying on the field with the champs other than the pirate took Oeaux to Church.

Because their backups are better than our starters and we only had 2 players that maybe could start at LSU according to them.
