Rode past legion field today

We need one more iron bowl there. Most everybody here doesn't even remember us playing at legion but the iron bowl lost something when it moved to campuses.
I understand the money, which is why we both eventually took the game to the campuses but that 50/50 ticket split, Birmingham, it just had a feel that made it special. I wish we had a stadium in mobile or somewhere we could play this game. It's not "another" game and shouldn't be treated as such.

I remember the true iron bowls. What we have now pales in comparison.

Sadly, that's never gonna happen.

Totally disagree. It's in a shitty section of an already shitty city, is in total disrepair, and neutral site games in general aren't as good as home/home series.

I wish auburn fans would get on board with going back to a 50-50 split in bham.
We could build a huge stadium / dome and name it the iron bowl. Would be great for the state too.

That would be good, I remember the Old Iron Bowls there.

I hated playing at Legion Field. I will never go back there again

It wasn't the stadium that was great, it was the atmosphere created by a 50-50 ticket split. The victory is always sweeter in person when the opposition's reaction can be clearly seen and heard. Honestly, that's part of the reason some of our teams play better on the road.

Never attended an Iron Bowl, but the first couple SEC Champ games there were a blast. Firm believer that football was meant to be played outdoors.

You're drunk, go home.
It's a dump in the middle of a demilitarized zone, and was like that 30 years ago.

So we put it in the Burbs... with no scary black people to keep the auburn fans away

I remember going there when I was a kid to watch the Alabama games. I would walk down to the field level and I was not tall enough to see over the chain link fence around the field. I would press my face against the fence and look through one square and wait for coach Bryant to walk out of the tunnel. It was like seeing Santa Claus. Those are amazing memories!

They should build a stadium in Montgomery. It's centralized between Birmingham and Mobile. And it's a lot easier of a city to handle the extra game day traffic.

I remember playing there and the shitty-arse bleachers swaying and almost collapsing. Good riddance.

It was and is a shithole that too many people don't remember enough about. You could never be sure that your transportation would be where you parked it after a game, and there were no decent places to eat/drink anywhere near the stadium. The upper deck swayed in the wind, the bathrooms and dressing rooms were horrors from the 50's, and it was already a lousy part of town by the late sixties. They should level the place and never play anything there again.

I'd be ok with Montgomery too. But I prefer somewhere in the Hoover area for personal reasons.
I just miss the 50-50

If Birmingham actually built a legit stadium in a good part of Bham then maybe Bama and Auburn could play a game there every now and then.
But as such I have no desire to avoid muggings and tetanus at Legion Field.
I thought it was a dump 20 years ago as a kid when we'd go to games there.
