Total Offense is 31st 453
Red Zone Td% is

You’ve played 2 defenses in the 110s in scoring defense (Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee)

44th in Red Sone TD% not great but. it terrible

I think you’re 17th in passing offense.

this is a shite talking thread. i’m wondering what you see as the reason you haven’t scored more this season.

willing to talk ad nauseam about why our defense gives up so many points in return

IMO -- a mixture of poor execution on 3rd downs and inept coaching.

When we finally get out of our own way, we should hopefully move up in regards to conversions.

Penalties. Penalties. Penalties. Poor coaching.

haha, like I said in another thread, we ran LAST YEAR's offense against our FCS and MTSU, the only cupcakes we faced.

I think MTSU was a total trap game. You ask any player on the team, kstate was who they wanted to beat the most. The players took the loss there last year personally and I think they were already focused on that game, which is a shame. Hiding the play book too.

We would have scored 70 is the SD game, had 35 at half and put in backup QB for 2nd half fwiw when looking at box score in that game.

Red zone defense is our biggest issue, way more than red zone offense. But our issues in the red zone are penalties. As soon as we get close we start getting false starts out the arse.

Not a bad question.

MTSU they were running a skeleton offense trying to keep everything off tape for KSU and it almost burned them.

Otherwise, the offense (OL specifically) has been getting a LOT of terrible penalties, most of them procedural, and putting the offense behind the sticks at the absolute worst times. The OL must play more disciplined football as the schedule gets tougher, because they won't be able to get away with playing from behind the sticks constantly going forward.

Better question:

LSU, why do you let teams score SO MUCH?

105th out of 130 in scoring defense.

I mean it’s not a better question. our players are bad and our coaches are also bad. we don’t do anything well. we have so many gaps in talent that our few good players can easily just be elongated because the other team just doesn’t worry about the rest.

This is your answer, but deeper than that we are a heavily penalized team and have had some bad ones in the RZ.

Honest answer, but Mizzou not scoring more isn't as shocking as LSU giving up just 2.4 points/game less than mighty San Jose St.

Also we played super vanilla the first two games. I know everyone says that, but it’s actually true. We opened it up against KSU. Been pointing to that game all off-season.

we are a sloppy and undisciplined team that makes drive killing mistakes over and over.

I'm not sure this is the thread I'd make after 55.

they’ve played 2 scoring defenses statistically worse than us and haven’t broken 40.

Not since 98 has it right.

Bonehead penalties at key moments. Questionable designed runs by Cook who is nursing an injured knee, etc.

That said, the emerging prospect of an effective deep ball has forced defenses away from loading the box. I’d like to see better run blocking especially on the edges as another wrinkle. It’s taken three quarters every game to get our RBs to the next level. We need them to get into rhythm earlier.

we don't have to score 40 to have a great offense. Also, our offense isn't our strength, its our defense. Our offense is balanced, a lot of short plays that takes up the clock. Its not some high octane offense that puts up a bunch of points. Its a Low TO, efficient offense. I think the scoring will be lower than you think. I think we will bleed the clock as much as possible.

To answer what you said. The OL penalties are why we don't score 40.

we were bad at third down conversions prior to the vandy game

we make a lot of mistakes that kill drives. usually the oline

offense gets more conservative when we have the lead in the second half. we don't step on the other teams throat once we get up

we average a slightly higher TOP than you. neither of us are going to be mistaken for a service academy anytime soon.
