I already made this prediction somewhere. Gus will be canned Monday morning October 28th after we take a 14+ point beating at LSU we will either be 4-4 or 3-5 at that point.

He may, but feelers will be going on behind the scenes all season. Bob Stoops won't be the only one getting calls

Why would we fire Gus before the season ends if we are trying to dwindle down the buyout?

Rocky is trolling

If anyone is serious about us running the table they need their head examined.

We are not dwindling down his buyout. We are simply paying it as salary. His money owed is the same no matter when he did fired for being a failure, which is why he should have been fired this off season.

There were zero big time jobs open this off season, which was the excuse in 2015 when I suggested we Jet Gate his arse. It was the perfect time to make a move. But instead these idiots can't admit a mistake and bite the bullet.

The buyout to make him walk will go down year after year that he’s here. Paying a higher number in buyouts in conjunction with new staff salaries aren’t in Auburn’s best interests and should try to avoid it. If we are going to fire him mid- season, we should’ve already fired him because that’s a half hearted attempt to save money.

Auburn i feel will never be in the business of firing someone midseason, b/c that is not the Auburn way. Only if he did something illegal or unethical during the season would he get fired.

I don't think we win the first game, unless we feel good about who win's the QB race and we have some transfers come in to solidify the OL. I really don't feel if it is MW and the same line we had from last year, will we start off with the win.

Plus. remember, Gus tends to not find his starting 11 until about the 3rd game in, and bc of a loss.

I don’t get why people would want interim coaches finishing the season anyways. Put them losses on Gus’s record. A dumpster fire is still a dumpster fire no matter who is coaching. Obviously if we are having a bad year next year, I’d have no qualms with jetgating prospective coaches. We should already be vetting imo. Votes of confidence are pure formalities at this point.

Also, our luck is Steele would frick around as interim coach, win one rivalry game, and then become permanent HC.

I don't think Steele would ever get the permanent HC job even if he starts off as interim.

He is too old, and he has not been able to get a HC job anywhere he interviews...

And you know this? Because he doesn't even know if he will declare, or at the very least hasn't announced it yet. If he comes back, Oregon will be a top team and he said when he signed as a hometown kid that he wanted to win a championship. Next season will be his best bet.

I don't understand how most schools that have high caliber players in their hometown keep them, while it seems like we try not to recruit Auburn high school...
