So is this what we think will be the starters

WR - Slayton
WR - Ryan Davis
WR - NCM

HB - Chandler Cox

QB - Jarrett Stidham

RB - Cam Martin

RT-
RG-
C-
LG-
LT-

Yup. My OL prediction

LT - Tega
LG - Harrell
C - Kim
RG - Horton
RT - Driscoll

Troxel/Ashley the 6th OL in unbalanced looks. Really think the Driscoll pickup is gonna prove huge this year

I guess its possible but I don't see Gus changing his ways and starting a brand spanking new guy when he has Cam Martin who has been around a little while and showed promise.

A mix would be nice but it is Gus we are talking about and he has to believe that it is Cam Martins turn at the plate

I predict the same offense as last year. Grimes will have his o-line figured out much quicker than Hand did. But it'll take Gus a few games to figure out the RB.

I really dont think there will be much to figure out unless Martin gets injured. Seems like he is the guy.

But we will see....

I think Martin is good at carrying the ball, but I think there will be an issue keeping Kam in because of his pass blocking (he's not the ideal candidate to pick up the rush), which is what kept him off the field a lot of times last season

I totally agree. I have had reservations about I'm being the #1 guy for a while. It just seems that Gus is sold on him. I was thinking he was held out of spring due to him being the guy and Gus wanting to see some other people.

Lets hope at least two of them step up.

Sorry you count see the humor in my post. I thought it was pretty obvious from the prior thread
whats humorous about bashing a player that had a winning record against SEC opponents, led Auburn to the Sugar Bowl and a second place finish in the West in his only year as a starter?

I’m usually a sunshine pumper on all players, but just don’t see it in Kam. By all accounts he’s a tireless worker, plays hard and is a great teammate. Still doesn’t change that he had early fumble issues (didn’t lose them all) and seems to get knocked down by a stiff wind at times. He’s a 3rd down back for me and can be good at that role. Just not the complete player that Boobie and Asa could be (I know we haven’t seen them).

It will be just like you said. Boobie and Asa carrying the load with Kam Martin as a change of pace.

This reminds me of Alabama fans hyping Jalen Hurts as the guy that lead them to 2 consecutive National Championship appearances.

Meh. Auburn went 8-5. Sean White had a pretty decent year, but he was by no means outstanding or even “good” in my mind.

Now, that wasn’t exactly his fault. He had physical limitations that hurt him and the offense. He’s not a read option guy. His body isn’t meant for that, athletically nor physically. And he didn’t have the big arm to stretch the field.

What he had was accuracy, timing, swagger (yeah, I said it), moxy, average arm strength, and a type of “frick being scared” mentality. Dude was definitely a bulldog and left it all out on the field. I would call him a good leader.

However, in the end, he just didn’t fit. I personally think he would’ve made an incredible college quarterback in the right offense. It’s a shame we haven’t seen him transfer anywhere for another chance.

I view Kam Martin as a “bridge ‘back” to the future, every down ‘back. I think he will likely be the change of pace guy for Auburn and I think he will do a good job.

Then again, not many viewed Tre Mason as a workhorse type of running back, either.

It was always my stance on him. And I said it 100 times. I liked the kid. He was a baller and did everything he could. But he was a bad fit from the beginning and any idiot could see that. He was never going to beat any good teams at Auburn. We were never going to beat any good teams with him at QB. It was just a bad fit for a guy who tried hard.

Not sure I compare it to the Hurts thing like you did TT. That was more of a culture change for the Alabama fans.

I considered Ole Miss and LSU good teams that year and he beat both as starter. Also believe if Sean were to have played the entire game against Clemson instead of the 5 Qb rotation we would have won that game as well and likely would have beaten Georgia if he were healthy.

just food for thought.

Atleast he’ll know the QB and offense from game 1 this season.

I’m fine with RB being plug and play until someone separates themselves

Ole baw did try hard.

I think we all like Sean, he was a gamer that left it all on the field. Wish things would have worked out better for him, but we all figured once Stidam came on board that was it for him.

Anyway, back on topic, I have no idea what to expect from our O to start the season. I'm not expecting a lot early on. Gus has no idea wtf he is doing until game 3 typically and with an offensive line that probably needs time to gel and having to figure out what to expect on game day for rb1 and rb2, I dont expect this year to be any different.

D should kick arse though and the early part of the schedule is favorable if we can beat Washington.

Yep. Kam Martin has talent. He is a big play waiting to happen, and I love his vision. Will he be an every down back? No idea. Will he be able to be the RB1 for the first few games to get Whitlow or Asa into the flow so we can have a committee if needed? Absolutely.
