The Harsin situation is a mess and it was 100% caused by Greene and now his inactions are worse.

This last round of coaching ‘promotions’ is laughable.

What bugs me though, is Greene went out and intentionally hired a new blood, change of pace, and outsider from the SEC. I didn’t have a big problem with it. But it was Greene’s guy clearly, and it’s clear the BOT didn’t support it.

So are we really going to keep Greene and allow him to do this again? Any soccer mom could have given Pearl an extension. I don’t see why on earth Greene would last past Harsin? What am I missing?

Uh, other than the obvious, look at the "optics", that would be one expensive buyout.

I think they just won’t renew his contract. The new president will then hire a new AD. The new AD will then hire a new football coach.

He is in the last year of his contract. It will probably not be renewed.

What I want to know is how the heck did he not get us a home and home with the Fighting Irish? He came from that program...

With UGA and Bama good with good coaches, the reality is Auburn has no chance unless the Boosters/ BOT, AD, and Head coach are working together. Can anyone disagree? I don’t see how?

It’s pretty clear Greene hired Harsin without booster support as they wanted him gone mid season and our situation with players was clearly a 2-3 year rebuild.

Therefore, if Greene is not going to work with the Boosters then why are we even considering allowing him a 2nd chance to hire a coach?

Look, I hope Harsin pulls a miracle from his arse and I’ll support him if he does.

But the last thing I want is Greene to hire another questionable coach mid way through the 2022 season and we have 2 more years of this.

No reason to at this point. His contract is about to be up after new president comes in May

Which is interesting, why was this not brought up previously with the Harsin situation?

I don’t have anything against Greene he may be good, but it just seems like the boosters and him are not working together which is a huge part of his job to do well.

Not really. His contract runs into 2023.

My thinking is even if Harsin doesn't survive after 2 seasons, and is let go in December, even if Greene is still here then, he will HAVE no involvement on the next HC search other than a figure head.

And they were hoping Greene knowing his contract will not be extended would try to land a new job before then, but so far he isn't being selected on the ones he put his name into the ring...

So Greene gets fired for growing all sports and preventing us from having Kevin Steele as a head coach. Harsin over Kevin Steele any day of the week. You should be upset with the idiots that turned our program into a soap opera with their childish vindictive behavior.

And if that was where the story ended he would be a hero but it isn't. He went too far in making his hire and alienated a very important group of individuals. We all gripe about their influence but like it or not they are a necessity and they absolutely have to be on board with a head coach to have any hope of running a successful program.

He won’t be in Auburn much longer. His contract ends soon.

I don't see it that way. Greene made the right move by going outside the GOB network of Kevin Steele type hires. It's the PTB's fault that this isn't working out, not Greene's. Greene has been knee-capped since he hired Harsin.

So Harsin has worked out? I’m not against Harsin and I’m not against Greene, but everyone has to work together or success won’t happen. If you get a guy that’s going to do his thing no matter what, this Harsin mess is what happens.

I don’t want someone that’s just a puppet either, but you gotta know the time and place to do your thing.

Best I can find, he signed a 5 year contract in 2018. His contract is not ‘almost over’ by any means. The new President, is already there he’s just not 100% in charge until May.

So we’re basically in a position waiting for someone to hire Greene away. That’s far from an ideal situation, lol.
