You can't ignore the huge red flag that Eli hangs his hat on offense and his offense / program started doing anything after only after a new offensive coordinator was hired. If anything, he should resign and let Moore be the head guy.
What the hell are you talking about? He gave up play-calling a long time ago and his coordinator hires have been money. He lost the DC (Baker) to LSU last season and their defense has barely dropped off.
Drinkwitz is smart enough to use an analytics firm to help him find coordinators. His staff has been getting poached pretty hard and he has found replacements every time.
This is literally what I brought up a few days ago: do you idiots want a "CEO coach", or not? So now its bad that Drinkwitz gave up playcalling and found a good OC?

He doesn't seem to be in the running, so it is a moot point

Yeah. A moot point.
He is just another G5 coach like Sumrall that has an offensive edge like Lane Kiffin lite and gameplans around QB strengths.
I have no clue what Sumrall's edge is. He seems to be building a winning program. Check. He is a defensive minded coach. Dont really see that expertise being fruitful on the field this year. Meanwhile North Texas is 1st in the nation in yards Per Game and points per game.

Drinkwitz checks a lot of boxes. 2023 SEC Coach of the Year, decent shot at a third straight 10-win season, knows AU, shown he can hire a good staff.

Drink already makes 9 million to be average and miss the playoffs yet again. Don't want him.

At Missouri. Not sure what you guys are expecting. This is the top of the market for AU right now.

Do we really want Gus Malzahn 2.0 after trying Gus Malzahn .5?

Given some of the names that have been floated, I’m more relieved than anything else.

You are relieved by mediocrity? Makes sense

Doesn’t have any inside info. Take their show for what it is, fun entertainment.

Yes. You read the "given some of the names that have been floated" part of my post, right? If everything that has been reported is true (and maybe it is not) then we've been considering several coaches who are below mediocre.
Case in point, if the most recent report is to be believed, Clark Lea made it into the final four. Lea would need a stepladder to touch the bottom of mediocre. (You realize Pavia would not be coming with him.)
Yes, relief is the word for it.

Some G5 coaches are not going to have the accolades starting out the gate so cant penalize the hire. But the coaches that have an edge are not mediocre in talent. They are also fresh and hungry to win.
I believe Drink will make someone like Lanier happy if he can continue to win 8 but dont see the ceiling very high at all.

its my hope that Cohen is playing this close to the vest and that everyone is merely throwing out names so that when one of them gets hired they can claim “my sauces”
maybe a forlorn hope but thats all i got re: AU footsball

Better known as the guy that never gets this right. I am sure he is on here and just repeats what we talk about.

My PTSD is rooted in the two guys with losing records, so if we're down to Drink, or Sumrall, I feel a little better about it.
I think Drink would be a great hire. I believe Sumrall could be.
I can go another cycle, with Auburn, hiring away from the Saban/Smart coaching tree; it's cool...
