We are reaching for the heavens

I'm good with Sumrall or Durkin. Initially leaned Durkin for the roster but in the portal age, I'm not so sure that's a big deal.
If Hugh can assemble this good not great roster in 2-3 cycles, I'm sure someone like Sumrall can too. Auburn's money was Hugh's recruiting success.
Kind of lean towards clean house and let a young guy take over fresh.

We hire Lea and I’m almost willing to bet we’re searching for a new HC and AD in 3 years or less.

Don’t think anyone we hire will be at AU that long- not in this day and age.

I wouldn’t… but he will not leave the West End of Nash…

Disappointed that this is the list. We almost had Kiffen 3 yrs ago and now this ia all we can muster.

Allan Head at Auburn Sports says it's down to Durkin, Sumrall, Lea, and Drink...
No matter how many times I hear it the list doesn’t sound any better.

You think Auburn is in a position to gamble right now? Being so SAFE that you screw up is one thing..... but hiring a coordinator (Not named Durkin) when we are a HALF step from being Tennessee 5 years ago could seal our fate
Losing HC is demoted to become a losing DC. How could anyone in the world seriously wanna hitch our not just the defense but the whole program to him as OUR HC? What could go wrong?!? PRINT THE CUPS

If that the case it appears Auburn has once again gone cheap with the exception of Drinkwitz. Either Cohen is lying about the “you wouldn’t believe the coaches calling me about the Auburn job” or he doesn’t want or have the money to spend on them.
I’m good with Durkin or Sumrall out of these 4, but this is about as disappointing of a list as we could have.

Hard to argue with this. And I’m pretty high on Sumrall. But, yea, this list is a dud…especially after Cohen’s puffing.

3 years ago Kiffin was no different than how you would rate Drinkwitz today. He had a 10 win season and an 8 win season at Ole Miss at that point, but he had beaten nobody noteworthy in the SEC (his best wins came against Jimbo Fisher and Sam Pittman). Isn't that the argument against Drinkwitz today? Kiffin actually lost to Harsin in 2021.
People forget that prior to beating UGA last season, Kiffin had the same reputation of not being able to win the big game against the top SEC teams. In 2023 his games vs. Bama and UGA weren't even close. Last season he finally won the big game vs. UGA, but he blew their season by losing to both Kentucky and Florida.
Drinkwitz is actually underrated by SEC fans - he seems to get hate because he is goofy, but his supposed flaws are realistically no different than Kiffin's were/are. Missouri isn't any better than Ole Miss in terms of resources or realistic ceiling - in fact I would argue that its worse.

Alan Head just said that its looking like a Top 4 of Lea, Drinkwitz, Durkin, and Sumrall right now unless there is a surprise that pops in
I definitely wouldnt have unrealistic expectations this go round

I agree. Kiffin in O&B is like a distant dream today. With a little recruiting, I could get excited for next season with Drink. The list is better than what we had but it looks like another cross your fingers and hope for the best hire.

It's pretty obvious it's going to be Sumrall by now and the mods know it. AHead was shilling Sumrall's staff having SEC connections and arguing Sumrall over Eric Morris which is absurd.

I still have PTSD from the Harsin hire. Freeze ending in disaster didn't help matters.

If I am picking from that group, give me Drink.

Honest question here what has Eric Morris done? I get he found Cam Ward and coach Pat Mahomes. His HC record is alright I guess. So what is the attraction? Seriously I need educated on this guy.

No.
You can't ignore the huge red flag that Eli hangs his hat on offense and his offense / program started doing anything after only after a new offensive coordinator was hired. If anything, he should resign and let Moore be the head guy.
