A winning record should be the at minimum requirement

and even then that alone shouldn't put them on a short list.

BTW Golesh lost to Navy today

Welcome to Auburn Football. A 5 loss program historically. Except the last 5 years since Gus left. Where Auburn is a 8 loss program.

Go heal yourself.

Yeah, I caught that. I've been pulling for him, because of Kodi

still like him as a candidate

Golesh O + Durkin D has potential

and they’re out of the playoffs now

IMO, Franklin has the highest floor. He could recruit and scheme us back to an 8-9 win team yearly. You win a couple more, now you’re in the playoff discussion. There will be 9 win teams in the playoffs in the future. Once you’re in, you could get hot and win it all.

But, you have to start winning the games you have always historically won. Franklin could do that.

Does Summrall have a higher ceiling? Maybe. He’s won everywhere he’s been. But, he’s not done it at this level. If we take a chance and he does, we could have a long run of success. I can’t remember one of our coaches ever leaving for a “better job.”

Clark Lea? 9-27 without Diego. Seems to do more with less. What could he do with our resources? Could it be a package deal with his OC?

unfortunately his floor is indistinguishable from his ceiling

Chalk up Ls for big game Franklin to UGA and UA.
Who do you think he is regularly beating to get to 8-9 wins?
Keep in mind the SEC goes to 9 games.

Most of us will be disappointed with this hire. Sumrall has a very Tubs feel to him. Tubs time at OM and his first 5 seasons at AU were meh. It took getting elite talent to make the jump for him. Hopefully we have learned that lesson and support this hire.

With someone calling a cohesive offense, we are explosive enough to be undefeated at this point, or a one loss team at worst.

This could AND should be us more often than not.

Which is what, exactly?

Auburn's 2026 in-conference schedule as an example: Vanderbilt, Bama, UGA, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, MSU, Tennessee.

You are "supposed" to beat Vanderbilt, Arkansas and MSU from that list. Ole Miss is a historical yes, but not this current version of Ole Miss under Kiffin. The rest of those games are either clear games where we are underdogs, or its a tossup.

For Franklin to win even 8-9 games here, he would have to start winning MULTIPLE games a season against legitimately good ranked SEC teams. Something he never did at Penn State.

Franklin ain't that. He was always searching for an OC at Penn State. Went through 5.

You're down on Sumrall like he stole your girlfriend and married her.
