This about sums up your support of an AD telling a potential hire this is your assistants.

So stupid. Imagine not wanting a department around you that wants you to succeed year 1. frick us for trying to set him up with the best coordinators in the game and an intact roster. After you've established a winning program with these guys THEN you can do your own interviews as the prospects of being on your staff will attract the best of the best. And I stand with Cohen on that. Granted it's all still speculation but the smoke is getting thick. Im not gonna fault him for trying to mitigate the risk of hiring a G5 guy. But ego precedes logic with these dudes and you have to operate under that knowledge. The optics are horrible nonetheless tho.
Nix is not one of the best coordinators in the game and you do not pay someone almost 10 million a year unless you currently trust that they are able to build a staff now. Also, Hugh Freeze was able to turn around the roster from whatever Harsin left to this one that we have now that we are so obsessed with keeping, so the roster retention argument honestly betrays itself when the guy we just fired was able to turn it around completely in 2 seasons. Also no other team is so worried about roster retention interestingly.

basically the only hope right now is that Bama beats us so badly that it resets our coaching search and forces them to NOT hire Durkin due to backlash
I have news for you
This will happen but they will hire Durkin anyway

Bro, Sumrall just wanted to talk to Durkin first. If he is indeed the "best coordinator" for him then he should be able to sell himself easily.
Instead he is being told by a former BASEBALL COACH (Cohen) that Durkin (and company) are the best he can do. Why the frick would Sumrall trust Cohen on who his DC or WR coach should be? And why should he saddle himself with these players? What if he thinks that Cam Coleman in fact is NOT worth the money he is going to take to retain, and that he can buy 2 WR's for the same money that together will outproduce Coleman?
If I'm Sumrall and Cohen is telling me that this roster must be retained at all costs, the first question I'm asking is if that is the case then why is it that that roster hasn't managed to win more than 5-6 games already? Maybe some of the players on the roster are actually just "talented losers" who he doesn't foresee as part of a winning culture?

If tweet fails to load, click here. So who are these Multiple sources? I see a few on this message board & a few on the UF boards along with some on Tulane's boards...
How is that for Sauces? I love all of these multiple sources that shall not be named.
It can be true, we can melt if needed. However, let's see who is announced tomorrow. If 3rd over easy Durkin or we are extending our search then we can riot with Pitchforks and demand Cohen resign or be fired....

Football Scoop is a legitimate outlet which has access to agents and coaches all across the country. If they are reporting that, then it is coming from sources directly involved with Sumrall.

I agree completely with this. After the Haskin debacle; tell Sumrall we will give them 1 year contracts as assistants then you get full control to make your own to retain them or find someone else with full control.
It’s kinda crazy to give a coach of just Troy and Tulane complete ownership to do whatever he wants.

Do you want to give Durkin full autonomy to build a new staff?

I'm pretty much the ultimate glass half full kinda guy, with a heavy dose of being realistic, and in the same boat. You aren't alone by a long shot. All of my Auburn grad friends are in the same boat. The PTB are vastly underestimating how done the fanbase is with Auburn football after the past six seasons.
And with the brutal schedule we have next year, whoever we hire is gonna need some good will. It will be very easy for the boo birds to come quick.

But its less crazy to assume that non-football coaches (Cohen, boosters) who thought that Hugh Freeze would succeed are more qualified to pick his coordinators and coaches for him?

If we keep Durkin for roster retention reasons than the logical expectation is to be good right away. There should be no leash at all from a logical perspective.

From your mouth to Pat Dye’s ears. But let’s be honest with ourselves. Cohen and the PTB are happy as pigs in shite just hiring Durkin. No Sumrall? No problem. The guy who just happened to already be our DC and is now our interim HC is just as good as anyone.
We should formally change our battle cry from “War Eagle” to “That’ll Do!”
By the way, you guys obviously don’t know me, but I’m actually a freaking optimistic person. The fact I’m this down on our football program right now speaks volumes. (Not to make this about me. Haha.)
I've been in the this camp as well for a long time of just supporting whoever the next guy is, but i'm just done if it's Durkin. I don't have any hope that he'll amount to anything more than Freeze/Harsin and i'm just tired of it all. if it's Durkin, it just tells you that Auburn isn't serious about any of this and they're just trying to milk the fans from cycle to cycle and to keep things barely afloat.

Have we hired Charles Kelly yet?
Everybody relax! Coach Durk and Nix are about to win the Iron Bowl convincingly then lead us to the playoffs next year.

I’m not trying to be a dick, but this is ridiculously stupid. Either you believe in the guy you hire or not. This is a moronic way to approach a coaching change.
