I have heard multiple sources say the contract was signed. If it was Durkin there would be no delay to announce it.

Rant is saying Drink is off the board

Reported he is about to sign an extension at Mizzou.

At this point, I'm hoping the "Sumrall is a done deal" reports are true. All of the scrambling that is gonna happen after Kiffin makes a decision is gonna get insane. 2 of 3 out of LSU/UF/OM are gonna be onto their plan B's and I would prefer Auburn have their guy signed and working the portal while they all scramble.

Jon wanted to play at Auburn. Ginny wants to get back to Auburn to raise their kids and to be closer to their families like when they were at Troy. Their families want them at Auburn.

But but...Some OM poster on tRant said Sumrall and his wife really, really loved Oxford, MS in 2018 when he was the LB coach for Matt Luke.

The way we have handled things (which has been very not on-brand for Auburn ) makes me think we've basically been done with whoever the coach is for a good bit now and have moved onto the staff side of things. Don't know who it is going to be and not ruling out that it won't be a disappointment or anything, just with how quiet things have been, I think whoever we decided on has to be done at this point. Auburn can't be this quiet if we are still in the middle of the shite

I agree. This has been the most "under wraps" coaching search i can remember. There have been a couple "out there" names thrown out but none of that ever really took hold and everyone takes off woth it like has happened before.

Its kinda been Sumrall and/or Durkin and that's pretty much it. Im hoping TPB finally executed the search like adults, didn't leak shite to the media and are gonna announce a good, solid hire after the IB. That would, at least, show a change over previous hires.

Sumrall will be OM’s coach the second Kiffin announces he’s leaving.

I was texted that info last night...Lane to LSU, Sumrall to Ole Miss...I am confident in the former, but not sure about the latter

You’re looking at it through the eyes of a fan, not through the eyes of a HC. These guys are all control freaks with sizable egos. Some people no matter how good they appear on paper are just oil and water when you put them together… not directed at Sumrall but at the overall point of why wouldn’t guys work together.

Gotta disagree here. As Jang said, he is one of the best DCs out there. Im in a new job and I got a fella who knows the ropes at the school for two years, all the personnel etc within the complex and school admin. AND he is one of the best DCs, I would keep him in a heartbeat.

You decide to bring in your own guy, half the defense hits the portal and you dont know anything about how the system is working in this new environment......you best believe you cut about a year off that timeline they gave you to succeed.

You think Saban has Kiffin over for cookouts, thats oil and water, but Saban also knows coaching talent.

And who knows, it seems Sumrall and Durkin are cut from the same cloth, they probably will get along famously.

All of this was settled a while go when we announced that we would announce things after the IB, this is just Mr. Sexton spreading rumors to negotiate higher salaries.

Lane isn't leaving, Ole Miss will match and Summeral is heading to Auburn. It's just a game of how much they can inflate the salaries.

OM is getting shafted from both ends on this. Hes playing LSU against OM and OM against Auburn. Florida is in no mans land it seems.

I think beat bammer mentioned Sumrall's agent is Doug Schoen. Although its not Sexton, I feel given the surname he will negotiate quite well.

Daniel Cobb told me it’s gonna be Sumrall.
That’s all I got.
He a good fit? I don’t follow Tulane

I am not ruling out Drinkwitz coming out of left field until I see his extension with Missouri confirmed.

I hope that he stays at Missouri and we aren't stupid enough to pay him 10-11 million/year.

Auburn has never had a coaching search this quiet. There’s virtually no information out there other than who the supposed front runner is. Part of me believes there is no way they wrapped up the most pivotal Auburn coaching search in 45 years two weeks ago. If Cohen is pulling a rabbit out of his arse that no one sees coming, I’d be shocked. He doesn’t strike me as a guy who does surprises.

Just throwing this out there for the people that keep harping on Cohen "forcing" candidates to keep Durkin. the whole video is worth watching but i have it set to start at the timestamp where they start talking about this topic.

Lol I don't think anyone knows anything on how Cohen is approaching the staff retention piece, including "Mike G"
