I think this is blown way out of proportion. Durkin may not be HC material, but he's one of the best DC's out there. I think i saw the other day that someone said that Pete Golding would be staying as the DC at OM no matter who the new coach is, and if that's true, would douse all those flames.

If you had just gotten the head coaching job at Auburn, and Auburn had asked you to keep the DC, and give him a salary bump to keep him......the same one the number one team in the country tried to pilfer....would you chose a DC from Tulane instead????

Particularly if you wanted to retain the roster and a few recruits?

I think its Sumrall, he keeps Durkin and a few others like I hope Belatoni and Vonte. Kenyatta Watson.

I think he will be a good recruiter and hard nosed. Believe it or not, some parents actually dont want their kids joining a team where the players drive 150mph with their little siblings in the car, and walking around with enough jewelry to embarrass Mr. T.

Im still annoyed seeing Riddick on the sidelines with enough chain mail silver around his neck to join a crusade. I get it, you are injured, but you made a boatload of NIL for a total lack of performance, dont flaunt it. You would be better served carrying Atkins jock strap.

You’re looking at it through the eyes of a fan, not through the eyes of a HC. These guys are all control freaks with sizable egos. Some people no matter how good they appear on paper are just oil and water when you put them together… not directed at Sumrall but at the overall point of why wouldn’t guys work together.

Chicken just posted on CC Forum that he was told Sumrall was heading to Ole Miss.

Just when I had gotten on-board........

I am just ready for every bit of this shite to be over.

I believe his staff will be a mixture of Troy and Tulane guys couple that with the roster turnover that will happen and next years schedule

We shall see. I wouldn't be surprised by a few in smaller positions but I'd be very surprised if the coordinators didn't have experience either as a head coach or at a power 4 program. The only rumors to the contrary have been solely from people assuming the worst.

Auburn will spend to maintain the majority of roster.

Well that’s gonna suck for him because if I were betting I would bet Kiffin stays at Ole Miss. And if he has truly made that statement to Cohen that he is waiting on Ole Miss and he hasn’t been told to kick rocks then I have zero confidence in Cohen.

I’m not claiming to be an insider-but if Sumrall is Auburn’s first choice he will be our coach.

I know the entire Sumrall and Nixon family, and went to Grissom with both of them.

Jon wanted to play at Auburn. Ginny wants to get back to Auburn to raise their kids and to be closer to their families like when they were at Troy. Their families want them at Auburn.

He’ll be the next AU coach if Auburn makes that offer. That, I do not know.

Ole Miss is a fall back option. They’d go but not over an Auburn offer.

If it is truly Durkin they could announce it today. If it goes beyond Saturday it's not Durkin.

No offense to chicken but he heard from someone else. And we all know “insiders” are prone to be full of shite.

If Auburn wants sumrall he ain’t going to ole miss

It's also possible they are willing to pay more than we are. With whatever buyout money they would be getting from LK going elsewhere they may be in a better situation salary wise. This is total conjecture on my part though.

People think Ole Miss is the better job because they have had a better half decade than we had..

If Ole Miss was so much better Kiffin wouldn't be constantly threatening to leave
