Franklin isn't soft at all, no idea where that's coming from.
There is nothing softer than having talent and resources and only being able to beat teams that have neither.
Franklin is a fake tough-guy. Remember the whole schpiel about how he wouldn't hire assistants that didn't have hot wives because apparently this proved that they couldn't recruit? You can't talk about shite like that and then field a 17-36 record against ranked opponents.
You seem to be taking this judgement based off of appearance only. What makes Drinkwitz "soft"? His team has one of the best defenses in the country, and on offense they are super run-heavy and are 10th in the nation in rush yards per game. Nothing about his team is soft, nor are they getting blown out or bullied on the field.

Dude I've seen your raging against Franklin for weeks and I've seen your advocacy for Drink, I don't need to cycle through it again.
Franklin is a high achievement coach that is in no way soft and is a managerial, business type in a CFB era that increasingly resembles pro football. Whether or not he can win big games, etc. wasn't the topic.
You ignored my caveat about Drink, obviously. Personally, I don't know anything about Drink's demeanor off camera. I do question whether his ability to manage a team of 4/5 star prima donnas in the NIL age will be tested more at Auburn than at Missouri. I suspect the answer is yes, but I don't foreclose the idea he's up for the challenge.

I'm not advocating for Drink at all. I'm only trying to squash weak arguments.
I'm asking why you think he is "soft", while Franklin is supposedly "tough". I guarantee that you are coming to that conclusion because Drink looks like a nerd and the other guy doesn't and he knows how to flap his lips in front of a camera.
Franklin's record proves that he is Charmin soft. He has had ample talent and resources at Penn State. The fact that he can only beat teams that he out-talents is proof that he is not "tough" in the least.
He is also not "high achievement" at all. Beating the teams that you are supposed to beat 90% of the time and losing every ~50/50 and below game is actually just coasting. Which is why Penn State pulled the plug on him.

I hope we don't hire Franklin. That guy just seems like a jobber. He's a huge no for me. HUGE.

Since this now seems to be the go to thread.
WEP’s Top 5 Coaching Candidates - Thursday 11/6/2025:
1. Jeff Brohm
2. Kenny Dillingham
3. Lincoln Riley
4. Jeff Traylor
5. Mark Helfrich
**I am on record as wanting Dan Lanning most. I will take him off as it is on record and I personally don't think our PTB have the want or balls to go drag him out of that duck blind out in the PNW**

Bill King up in Nashville knew Franklin quite well when he was at Vandy and said JF was the most thin skinned person he had ever met and was super paranoid about what people said and thought of him
This right here (like Hugh) tells me exactly why they can’t win big games
They just don’t have the right mindsets

It seems like we are in a better spot this time in terms of stability and will have options.

No doubt
I feel over 90% sure we will get one of these in this order:
1) Sumrall
2) Brohm
3) Durkin
4) Dilly
I would be happy with any of these

Our job is way way more attractive than it was the last two times. We have players. If you can keep them.
I said when Hugh was hired that the only good that would come of it is when he is fired in three years we’d have players.

We don’t have the money to do it. I don’t think anyone really has the money to do it. Maybe Michigan does with the Oracle guy.
They have the Nike founder that is all in on getting Oregon a football championship.

Put the Golden Arches on every jersey and see if we don’t have the money.
You all are standing in the box. I’m way over here contemplating success in the future of college football.

TPUSA had an event on Auburn campus. That might explain that flight.

once again you're ignoring the caveat I put in the original post

Again, I've seen your rants on Franklin and seen you bristle every time someone doesn't accept your conclusions on him.

Me too. His conduct at Vanderbilt proves that he is not good enough for Auburn.

Brohm’s name is picking up a ton of steam both here and at LSU.
