protestors don't deserve to get beaten down.

Israel and Palestine are in an abusive relationship and they both get what they deserve. the US should stop funding Israel's aggression but frick both of them.

you are a bet-welcher so frick you, too.

some of you Auburn people make me ashamed.

Cynthia Tucker used to write the same kind of articles in the 1990s.
We also laughed at the articles.

Cynthia Tucker was in school in the late 70s.

This one lady's opinion is just that. The overwhelming majority of Auburn students are pretty traditional and conservative. They probably aren't going to bother to submit a response, or even read what she wrote.

She's venting because Trump won, again.

News Alert: The US funds both sides. Israel is more direct funding, Palestine is more through UN & NGOs.

I would agree to stop all of the foreign spending...but that is for a different forum.

To the Plainsman writer's comment and posters' questions on beatdown occuring...
The video account I saw:
-Hamas supporter and counter-protester come nose-to-nose;
-counter-protester shoves Hamas supporter
-Hamas supporter lunges back and throws the first punch
-then, after first punch thrown, the "beatdown" occurs

Did my old heart good to see and hear that rendition. Thanks!
Obviously a great bunch of young Americans.
(From a retired Marine email buddy).

I sent the clip of Auburn students rolling Toomers Corner and singing the National Anthem out to an old email group after Trump won.

When I was an AU, my friend group WERE the liberals. We were the dope smoking hippie Birkenstock serape wearing hacky sack kicking long hairs. But liberal in the late 80’s early 90’s was judging people by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin, live and let live, enjoying cool relevant art and music, etc. I worked at WEGL. I never had much trouble with the fratty types or the more conservative students (which was almost everybody else). We all came together on fall Saturdays and cheered for the Tigers. We thought they were square and made jokes but no one even really talked politics that much. There was still a reverence for a logos that governed all of us. And honestly, in the back of my mind, I knew that eventually I would have to “grow up” and so that phase was kind of fun to rebel and enjoy being a college kid knowing it would end soon enough.

Being “liberal” then isnt what it is today. Today it’s being progressive for progressive sake. It’s not tied to a logos at all. There is no logic, no logos to it. And it’s more like an infection than a passing fancy. It has been said that “if a person in their 20’s isn’t liberal they have no heart, and if a person in their 40’s isn’t conservative they have no head” and I hope that’s still true and the “liberal” young people will eventually grow up and take responsibility for themselves. I hope that’s still the cycle, but I worry that it’s not.

Illustrates a real problem.

Our journalism schools are filled with extremists. This particular writer is quite the fan of SPLC and other horse shite organizations.
