No we aren't.

If Freeze is kept after this season, the portal will wipe us out and recruiting will immediately have a fixed ceiling. He'd be a lame duck and no assistant hires would change that.

We just did this song and dance with Gus, it doesn't work.

I personally want to move from Freeze. But our 2027 recruiting is looking good. 26 is just a down year in the state.

If $20 million dollars is a problem for us then we have way BIGGER problems

Its not. Freeze's buyout is one of the lowest in the entire conference, and it is structured to be paid incrementally as far as I'm aware. It is nothing. FSU is about to go on a ~$100M exercise to get rid of Norvell and hire a replacement.

Again, there reaches a point where it doesn't matter what the cost is or what "influential people" think: if the fanbase revolts or falls to apathy, the move will make itself.

The buyout excuse was used for both Malzahn and Harsin as well, and it ultimately didn't prove to be even a speed-bump.

Freeze brought in multiple five star guys on offense and can't score any points or sustain any drives.

It's over, man. I don't care if he finished with the #1 overall recruiting class. He will not win meaningful games at Auburn. Ever.

If they are not going to fire Hugh this week, then Cohen needs to be on the record today in support of Hugh.

I listened to the Locked On Auburn podcast earlier today with Blackerby. He said "It isn't John Cohen's job to answer to the fan base what the future of Hugh Freeze and his job status."

Like, are you fricking serious? It isnt the AD's job to answer to the people that generate a significant amount of the revenue for the entire AD? He just doesn't have to answer to the people who buy tickets and donate money? GTFOH with that.

That kind of disconnect makes me wonder if there isnt some sort of split behind the scenes between the AD and the boosters. It totally sounded like both those media guys were scared to criticize Cohen at all. It was pathetic. They made every excuse in the book for keeping Freeze. Including...wait for this..."Who will call plays if Freeze is fired midseason?" Ashford just there wasn't a whole week-long freak out over Auburn having multiple playcallers.

These people are clueless.

I don't think we fire Freeze, and he gets another year. People don't realize how much our Admins love Freeze.

Finebaum said the same thing on his weekly Monday appearance on Cole and Macleroy's radio show.

Paraphrasing: "The PTB still support Freeze while the majority of the fanbase is wondering why there was no announcement he was fired Sunday."

Finebaum also said last week that if we lost to miz Hugh would make it to the iron bowl. Finebaum says whatever stirs up the most stink at any given moment.

I was at the game Saturday and its the first time ever as a fan I ever heard very loud boos when the head coach name was called out pre-game.

You are being riled up. I haven't heard a single person who is close to Auburn suggest that they expect there to be any real chance that Freeze is coaching here next year.

Again, "he has support" means frick-all once the fanbase and their money revolts. Hugh Freeze is well past regaining support: beating Arkansas or Kentucky does nothing from a fan buy-in perspective.

The other part you need to understand is that this was a highly polarizing hire from the beginning. Half of this fanbase never wanted freeze from the start. Once the losses really start to pile on, the outrage will be deafening.

I expect that a move hasn't been made yet partly because the team hasn't quit yet, but you can only go through so much losing with a clearly dejected coach before one of these losses looks like a bad loss. And then you'll see just how much "support" Freeze allegedly has.

Because you dont know anyone. There are 5 people who make the decisions around football that is not the AD/pres. I personally know a board member, and that person has no clue about Freeze's status. Anyone talking in absolute's is lying.

If that person has no clue about his status, then he is gone. That alone goes completely against the notion that "he has undying support" which is being reported .

I've seen this song and dance play out time and time again. Oh look - here comes Phillip Marshall to report that 'X' isn't getting fired and they still have support! The PTB likes 'X' too much! The buyout is making them weary and that is why they won't fire 'X'!

Once these stories and reports start coming out, you know that 'X' is toast. That is actually how this happens at Auburn.

I could easily see a scenario where IF Freeze sneaks one out against Ark and beats UA, then he is back with a new play caller.

Unfortunately, a victory of UA will prevent a revolt from the general population.

The 4 or 5 people that actually fund the buy out might just be sick of giving money away. This is not a question of if they can pay.
