If you havent read Phillip Marshall's latest article, you should read it. (I'm not going to post it here because I dont know protocol on posting competing site content).

We're taking 6-hour bus rides home after playing games?? Are you shitting me? That is fricking embarrassing. Our administration is tripping over dollars to pick up pennies. The rival coaches will have a field day with this. With this kind of austerity plan, there's no way we're firing Gus and paying his buyout. No wonder our recruiting is going down the shitter! We are in for a not-so-slow decline to the bottom of the SEC. Maybe were banking on being a basketball school. frick me.

I’ve been saying this since the Georgia game. Baseball players were in the postseason traveling by bus to NC before the pandemic. 10% across the board for all sports budget cuts. And Greene gives no fricks about the slushee machines. No way in hell we are firing Gus now unless Tim Cook handles it himself.

Btw, bus rides don’t mean shite during a pandemic. It just means we have to budget a little harder than normal which is to be expected.

I thought this was to better sanitize things for travel and to control the spread of COVID?

This was talked about way back before Covid where the budget we was being cut and Football would be traveling via bus when possible.

Maybe saving up that 30-40 million it will cost to dump Gus and hire someone else. Had to be said.

PM is really sounding the alarms with that article and readers are acting like we will get negatively recruited for riding the bus every once in a while as if everything is back to honky dory. I am not getting it.

Wonder somebody got to Greene and said "Are you fricken kidding me?? I thought that was for volleyball and soccer teams, not football!?!"

That's because we will. Can you imagine Pruitt or O or Kirby must be thinking? "Like taking candy from a baby" on any stud recruits that are leaning to us. (if there are any left, that is)

In the COVID world, I can see how using buses would lessen exposure risk.

There is no shame in being frugal since we have already lost millions in revenue this year. We have plenty of negative recruitment fodder out there before opponents have to resort to that weak stuff.

Well, seems to me that the money is in good hands then. This obviously means the AD is practicing good stewardship of the money and saving in every way possible to get our bubble gum chewing, no QB developing coach out. Right...right?

$20MM+ ain't cheap, so I applaud the move saving money wherever possible.

It could be a bigger picture thing. I believe due to Title IX that if the football teams goes to Ole Miss on a plane so does everyone else. Can someone with better knowledge confirm or dispel that?

I can picture Kirby and Nick showing this to recruits:
(I have been on a chicken bus)

Like most screen-jockey AU alums here, you sure are great at spending other people's money.

The fact is we will. Telling recruits that your school has no problem paying a HC 7 mil a year, but for the players we must bus back 6 hours from a major college football game?

The visual negative recruiting will be felt, just like anything we do different than the Alabama's, GAs, LSUs will definitely cause a major recruit to pause.

Did I miss read your point?
