I'm more concerned about not being a 1 deep team at QB and OL

I agree. That’s about as a bad as a team can play and still win. Our lack of talent really showed last night but I did see some bright spots. Eugene Asante, Keionte Scott, and D. Kauffman balled out last night and refused to lose. That’s leadership and it will win us a game we’re not supposed to later on because it sure as hell did last night.

Fairweather’s coming out party last night is exciting. He’s a big time talent. Had read that but it was nice to see him take over at the time we needed.

Payton Thorne is mid af but Ronnie isn’t any better because he can’t throw and everything he does is telegraphed by his eyes and temperament. But it is what it is at QB and those are the cards we have to play this season.

Eugene Asante is a mad man. I did not see that coming. I knew he had a good camp but I didn’t expect to see him as a sideline-to-sideline one man wrecking ball. He is a baller.

Now, anyone who says Auburn has never won a game in California is officially a liar.

WDE!

Fumbles. At minimum the 3 that fumbled (Payton, Damari, JH), but better, all qbs and rbs should have to carry a ball around 24/7 for 2 weeks until UGA, and any student, other player, professor, anyone who can knock it out of said player's hands / cause a fumble on the way to class, out for a bite to eat, etc. should get free signed merch by said player, cash (take it from his NIL), free tix, anything. We have got to protect the fricking ball. Make all skill players write 1000 sentences. "I will not lose this mother fricking ball" or "No one is taking this rock from me" or something that sticks in their heads when the ball is in their hands. I think Payton's fumble really fricked him up in the head, so early, so careless.

The last one should have cost us the win. THREE different players. It's not acceptable.

You can't blame people for thinking what we saw last night was a continuation, even though we know we don't have a team that's 3 deep.

Throughout the offseason we widely discussed that the first season will be kinda hard. We have a lot of new people everywhere. That performance last night should be no surprise at all. We need to endure the lean years while things get built. The narrative can change a thousand times but the reality remains. Its like the stock market. The market can continue to go down, and people can continue to fearmonger the end of the world, but if you know there were too many excesses and bubbles in the stock market already, youre not really focused on the day to day fearmongering headlines. It is a less panicky feeling that allows people to remain patient.

This is true and we have to keep that in mind as we go through the season. I would have been disappointed losing last night, but not mad. But it’s great we got the W and kudos to the staff and players. There will be some low points, but I think we’ll be ok in the coming years.

This is exactly right. It should not be a surprise to anyone. We are unorganized and playing on emotion. They need to learn to play together. Practice will not teach you how you will play against formidable opposition. We learned some things last night.

I think every position can improve to a point where we can win a few games. We are not a force by any chance but we can win a few games with what we have and hit the recruiting trail hard and let our current guys learn to play together. Except at QB which unfortunately happens to be the most important position on the team

Unless Hugh pulls a rabbit out of his arse, I just dont see how that position is going to improve. We know what Robbie is, Thorne is showing to be the guys we feared. Stache must be worse than we know if he cant beat those two guys out.

I remember sitting in the stands in Athens when we were forced to play a broke arm Sean White and JF3 at QB and wondering how the frick we got to that point. We may be there again this year.

There has to be consistency from the top down. This season will absolutely be challenging and thats understandable. Hugh has to keep the team, recruits, and administration bought in to find longevity. Squeeze what we can out of this season and continue trending up. Im not saying FSU will win it all this year, but they have been fairly consistent the past few seasons. Now it's paying off.

I am pretty jealous of FSU right now. Their coach went through his own tests at FSU, and many fans wanted him gone just like the rest of the last few coaches. He even lost to Jacksonville State didnt he? But he made it to this point and now FSU is lookihg decent. The poise and composure paid off.

They very well could be the best team right now. They have a solid QB and some monster receivers. They also got their offensive line issues workedout that have plagued them for years.

No doubt they are playing very well. Not sure who on their schedule can beat them

This team needed 40 new players just to be competent. It’s a rebuild not just plug in new coach and have a talented roster.

We will have a roster by ‘25 but will be young.

We won and will be fine

You can tell he is frustrated and pissed and gets moreso as it continues. So glad it's him and not CHF. Cal head coach Justin Wilcox reflects on loss against Auburn (9.9)

I heard him say that one player would not be with the team the rest of the year. Did he send the place kicker packing?

The UMass game was encouraging because it was played clean and nearly error free. The Cal game was ugly and error prone which is anything but encouraging.

Thorne didn't have his head in the game for whatever reason. Play calling and execution was checked by Cal seemingly all night.

Our defense was playing their hearts out, that single handedly saved the game. Asante was out there showing that he was not to be messed with

To put it bluntly, our offense needs work.
