Aldridge moves to Edge Coach and Durkin does LBs

Someone called that before Garrett even left.

Good for Vontrell. Hope he makes the best of it. Seems a lot like Pope minus a year or 2 of experience

Agreed. He was in on this recruiting cycle for those linemen. Should be good to hold those recruits together.

This seems like a risky move. Lets see how it plays out this year

Not the first risk Hugh has taken on someone with the same resume. He hired a guy at Arky State & follow on to Ole Miss with a very similar resume by the name of Chris Kiffin

So we won't really know until next year about coaching & to see if he can recruit DL

Hugh has taken a chance with nearly all of his DL coaching hires since Ole Miss. He’s hired some really good ones.

He was recognized by 247 as names to know in off field recruiter piece they did. Trovon was ahead of him for Auburn.

We will find out. He’s young so should seem like a big brother to some of these kids.

Definitely need a hard arse on the DL tho. Need these young men to turn into 10-12 deep and be animals

This guy is super plugged in Atlanta among other places. Also very important in keeping the current defensive line recruits stable and the current defensive line on the roster in Auburn. Home run hire especially in the recruiting world. You’ll see.

This is his big shot. He has a year to prove himself. Its a risk, but Freeze is giving him a chance. Jury is out. Hope he crushes it this year

Corch agree. If he is young with energy and communication skills it is a perfect opportunity and chance for him. Finally having a HC that recruits makes such a big difference for overall recruiting.

Yeah, this may be the first time I've ever seen or heard the guy's name. So, I have no idea whether it's a risky move or not.

If Freeze has enough faith in him to give him his first break as far as moving to an on the field coaching role (P5 anyway), then I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt from us fans.

Anytime you hire a guy that has zero DL coaching experience at the power 5 level, its a risk. Dont care how optimistic people are thats the truth.

And its even riskier when you think that the 2025 class will set the tone for the future of our DL for years to come. Hope Freeze has an eye for coaches like he has an eye for talent.

You have the potential for a very good recruiter at a difference making position. Plus Aldridge and Durkin have tons of DL coaching experience.

This guy was already part of the 2025 DL recruiting, which is part of the reason why it made sense to promote him. The commits already know him. Jeremy Garrett stayed in Auburn this past recruiting weekend to help shore up the transition.

Freeze is batting like 1.000 with "young, inexperienced" DL coaches so this either isn't as big a risk as you think it is, or he has an unfathomable eye for picking them. I think that every one of his DL hires has been in this mold. For those that aren't aware, both Freddie Roach (Bama DL coach) and Tray Scott (UGA DL coach) have Freeze ties (Roach was brought on to Ole Miss by Freeze before he got fired and Scott was a GA at both Arky Stated and Ole Miss while Freeze was there). Chris Kiffin and Jeremy Garrett are two other examples.
