It is remarkable how little talent he left us with.

If you look at Justin Lee for Opelika-Auburn, it's all Harsins fault

McCreary was the only NFL starter level player on the team in this draft.

I liked McClain, but the reality is he is not as big as they would like.
He will catch on with a team and be productive on special teams early.

Smoke will get to camp. I don’t know IF he will make a roster. It could happen, but I don’t think it is a sure thing.

Who was it that didn’t like Slayton?

The more I’ve seen, the less I know who makes it after the 4th round. Seems like a crap shoot

You go 8-4 last year and more players are drafted. It’s just how it is. We had our first losing record in a decade and we are bitching about draft picks. That would be even more scary if we had 5-6 picks and lost as much as we did

Most of our players this year we're defensive guys.. I think every single one of their stocks dropped after a year in Masons defense. Even McCreary.. they said he was a potential 1st until this year where he seemed like he struggled more. However it happened, moving on from him was very much needed.

McCreary was the highest graded corner in the draft. He did NOT struggle on the field. What a horrible take. He "fell" to the first few picks of the 2nd round because of physical limitations, which...would have been the same regardless of what system he was playing in.

The other guys just weren't very good, or had severe limitations. I've been saying that Smoke Monday was horribly average for like a year now; why anyone thought he would get drafted even in the ~4th-5th round is beyond me. He is not a Safety in the NFL, and he's too frail and gangly to be a LB. McClain is small, but he is somehow also not very fluid or good in coverage. So he is an undersized "thumper" who can't really play pass-coverage in the NFL, which again, is a giant no-no in 2022. Classic case of a guy who excels in college, but has 1-2 severe limitations that make him a fringe NFL player.

In college, he did not play in an offense where I could see the skills, and he had some drops. I was wrong, he’s become almost a number 1 WR.

I’m glad things worked out for him.

I hope McClain does great things, but he is smaller than the guys they’ve been drafting at LB.

Time will tell. Making a roster is the first step. I think he makes a roster. I’m not sure about Smoke.

I’m sure if I searched your posts, you might have been wrong once. Thanks for keeping me humble.

The Jones,

Could you predict the careers of McClain and Smoke?

I just want your opinion.

Are they full time starters?
All pros?
Hall of Fame on the first ballot?

I hope all the Auburn players do great things at the next level, but I sort of doubt 32 teams missed out on a couple of full time starters for a decade and all pro types by passing on McClain and Monday.

I hope I’m wrong. Neiko Thorp played for a decade or more, I did not see that coming.

Who since 2000 had the longest NFL career out of Auburn as an undrafted free agent?

Bates?

To be fair, the NYG have a huge depth issue at receiver and they’re actively pursuing trades involving Slayton as he’s on the block. He’s been somewhat productive but hasn’t shaken the stone hands reputation.

I'm just telling what you they said on national tv. Take it up with them if you have an issue with it. Playing a bunch of soft zone hurt his stock.

I agree about everyone else.. which is why I said I don't know how much if would have moved their stock up anyway, but playing in that scheme last year def dropped everyone. Zakoby's main issue isn't even his size anymore, its not ideal... but with his production thats worth a late round pick. His problem is in addition to being small he also didn't test very well (which when you dig into it is also probably why he doesn't cover well). I expected him to be way faster than he was, but he was kind of slow actually.

They will get a chance in camp.

Guys make roster as UDFA every year.

McClain will make it on special teams I think, but we will see.

Good luck to all of them.

My prediction is Smoke gets cut the first week of training camp and won't get picked up by anyone.

McClain was touted as smallish but fast in college.

Go watch the video of the pick 6 vs Bama. I remember thinking who the f was that from Auburn that just came flying up behind him and escorted him to the goal? Iggy, now that boy was fast.

I think we all get a case of orange and blue glasses until we start to see the measurables come up in the draft.
