It's almost like old Jang came back.

Either way he is my brother.

Great comparison. Only thing is, he was a 5 star so he was actually expected to be somewhat good

Old Jang or New Jang you still Jeff to me lolz.

And I've been here. Just lurking...

Started a new job and working 70 hours a week doesn't lend much time to forum postings... I just read them when I have down time at work

70 hours a week is brutal. Sometimes I do 56 but don’t like going past that.

Given Nix passed the eye test also as a true freshman this really doesn’t hold much weight with me

I'm not basing my opinion on Bo's Freshman year vs Finleys.

I'm basing it on a guy who only has played in 5 games, vs a guy who now has played in over 30 and still missing WRs and not being accurate.

Finley has tools, Harsin just feels that he needed a relief pitcher to make something happen. He did.

Again I'm not saying Finley would be any better after 30 games, but for now he gives you a different QB and tools that might be better in the passing game.

And maybe that fits Bobo's and Harsin's offensive thinking for now.

Actually, there’s some validity to the comparison - legacy player, highly regarded recruit, HC who signed him left/was fired two years into his career - all we need now is for someone to start a rumor that Bo was killed in a hunting accident

But 2001-2005 was another epoch in terms of CFB. Consider, for example, that Croyle set single season school records for most yards (2499) and TDs (16) in his SR season.

Then realize that those performances aren’t even in the top 10 all-time there just 15 years later. And Bo surpassed Croyle’s total yards and tied him in TDs as a TFR, against a significantly tougher schedule.

There’s absolutely no way a QB with Croyle’s collegiate numbers (and his gimpy knees) would get picked in the NFL draft nowadays.

I mean Stidham was drafted throwing for 18 TDs. He was drafted mostly based on how pretty he threw the ball though, not really his production or ability lol

I saw as many inaccurate throws from the 5 game starter as the 30 game starter. What you’re saying is never mind that Bo has a better career completion percentage, less turnover prone, and has more quality experience let’s just put Finley in because he might be better in 25 more games.

Finley doesn't pass the eye test for me either unfortunately. Honestly I think it's his size/frame combined with his lack of mobility that throws me off. It's definitely some JJ bias.

That's some comparison! Other than both being black and tall, that's about where the similarities end.

Do you see Nix avoiding that sack on 4th and 9?

Is that true? They're both big, largely immobile QBs who operate a little awkwardly and have big arms. Seem pretty comparable to me. Hence it being mentioned in other threads in the same fashion.

The difference, I hope, is that TJ hasn't wilted under pressure. Whether he can become a proficient leader of this offense is yet to be seen, but I have my doubts.

As for Nix, yeah he doesn't go down there. He slings an ill advised pass as he gets flushed.

It ended up okay thanks to dumb luck on a busted play but did you see him also completely turn his back against the line of scrimmage on 4th and 9. I really don’t know why he did it. That wasn’t a football move; It was a weird move.

That might work against Georgia State., but not in the conference.

The next time Nix steps back into the pocket, will be the first time. We've all seen it a hundred times. Nix gets pressured, and immediately runs toward the sideline, followed by an ill-advised throw.

Finely showed some steely nerves when he avoided the sack, stepped back into the middle, and scanning the WHOLE field. JJ would've probably ended up in the fetal position.

We get it. You don't like Finely regardless of what happens. He ONLY orchestrated a 98 yard drive and gave us the go ahead score. I don't care if he doesn't the Moonwalk before throwing a TD strike. That dude is a baller, and you are in a serious minority of people that don't see it. o Nix?

They’re very similar. He is little heftier but not as hefty as Jamarcus Russell. He has a good commanding frame as a quarterback. Our OL better be able to to block for him though. He ain’t escaping.

Nix doesn’t run very much anymore. It was probably coached out of him. This move may have been bubbling for a while. Who knows.

He literally ran backwards on 4th and 9. Tell me why he did it. I just want to know why lol.
