He was pumping Sumrall with Buster and Durkin for roster retention and promising results.

Getting rid of a Cohen is definitely something that should happen. I have heard nothing that stands out on the fundraising side that makes him a must keep. Plus he’s not very bold in decision making.

It’s early but it seems like Sumerall is the coach that can make things happen.
Is it a myth that Kirby wanted to come to AU too at one point? Serious question.

He was definitely interested and we at least kicked the tires, but I dont think there was ever a formal offer in place.
As for Sumrall performing at this level this early, florida's roster is MILES better than ours on offense. Particularly Oline. 2/5 were Returning and one was Buster's starting center at Tech.
But the deal with Sumrall was all but signed and Cohen said he absolutely had to keep Durkin and Sumrall didn't like that, he was open to keeping DJD just wanted to interview him and see how they fit together first.

While they sucked last year, they were still preseason 15 or so I believe. Team was awfully coached, but a still talented roster. They definitely were in much better shape than us.

Yea, this was what finally did me in on Cohen. I'm glad we fumbled our way to Golesh as I do like him a lot. I was not 100% sold on Sumrall, but would have been more than happy with him as well. However, you should never tie yourself to a coordinator. Just beyond stupid.

Florida was always going to be a quicker fix than Auburn. Their issue was coaching and they retained a lot of talent. Sumrall didn't have to bring in a bunch of Tulane guys in.
Auburn returned 1 starter on offense and what, 3-4 on defense? Lost 60 guys. And we sit at 3-1, 5-pt lost to a Top 10 team. It will be ok.
