Since next season and this recruiting cycle is basically a wash outside of catching lightening in a bottle, would we be better served to fire Gus now and give it to Steele? Seems like the support of the program would return if Steele was the Interim. Then let Allen do his job and find a coach to move forward with at Auburn.

Feels like it might help with the next recruiting cycle.

We need to fire the President first.

Speaking only for myself firing Gus and hiring Steele as an interim for a year would do zero for my excitement level.

I was suggesting the excitement might be renewed in seeing a path forward. IMO Allen Greene would handle a search well and find a person capable of running the program in a manner worthy of Auburn. We have to stop hiring guys based on flash and start thinking about what it takes to win consistently at this level in this environment.

I don't believe Steele would create an Ed O type energy.

Never too late but the clown car administration must be dismissed. What respectable coach would come after seeing this go down?

Is not a good reason to make a coaching change.

The assumption is a change is coming either way, but getting out a head of it might help to salvage the 2nd class.

Agree. At this point a wholesale change would be needed.

Just trying to win 7 games next season...we've done that without offense twice in the last 6 seasons.

Thanks...nothing better than a grammatical correction on a message board. Well played.

Steele was 4-36 as a HC. He makes Gus look like Vince Lombardi.

Inability to hire college Div1 coaches is part of the dysfunction and incompetence that is Gus M. That should be enought to fire for cause. My god how has it gotten to this level of failure and how can Leath and the BOT continue to do nothing.

Because being unable to hire an OC in this case has more to do with how Leath and the BoT has allegedly handled this than Gus

I'm with you on Steele. He deserves to be interim for a year. Cant be any worse than what we will see with Gus at the helm.
