Barrett writes on college football nationally, but he is originally an Auburn guy.

An Auburn grad, I believe.

Rob Pate would have been a good choice for the committee also.

Jacobs just said the committee would be him, Mac, Bo, and Pat...and that would be it. Interesting

Mac Crawford has one helluva resume.

Sully is as fine a person as can be found on this earth.

And nobody tells Bo what to do or think. BO KNOWS.

This committee makes me happy.

Whether or not this "committee" has any power, or whether its all for show is the question. See:

Jimmy Brumbaugh, my teammate, was on the "search committee" in 1998/99, he had no idea Tubberville was going to be hired. Spare me that BS

Chances on Petrino will be slim if Jacobs really does have a say. I got a feeling Bo is there to take the heat off Jay when things fall a little short of a big name.

Hope that feeling is wrong.

That doesn't excite me. So this committee could just be a dog and pony show to spread the blame if JJ shite's the bed on the hire.

I am pleased to announce that we have put together an outstanding search committee to find our next head coach. The committee consists of several great Auburn leaders who share our commitment to competing at the highest level and who understand what it takes to succeed at Auburn. I am honored that Mac Crawford, Bo Jackson and Pat Sullivan have agreed to join our efforts to find the best coach possible for our student-athletes, the students of Auburn University and the Auburn Family.

This does not mean they are the search committee, just that they have joined the search committee. If they were the entire committee, then he probably would have said "the search committee consists of..."

I was wrong.

I think the "search committee" is for show, too. It doesn't make any sense. JJ has the final say, and while he could listen to recommendations all day long from those guys, JJ's not going to hire a HC if he doesn't want him.

I'm holding out hope for Patterson or Petrino, but I'm not optimistic. I think JJ just can't help himself and will hire someone with previous AU ties.

I'm gonna say we ultimately settle for Malzahn, Jimbo Fisher or Patrick Nix.

Logical speculation. May backfire though if that is the intent. If they told Bo they wanted his input and help and ignore it when he gives it, might piss him off and I doubt Bo would be afraid to speak up and speak his mind.
