I'm gonna say we ultimately settle for Malzahn, Jimbo Fisher or Patrick Nix.

Surely there is no way in hell this line is serious. I was following you until the Patrick Nix name drop. That's when I felt like popping you in the face

Jay Tate said he doesn't expect the search to last long, whatever that means.

Zero confidence in Auburn's leaders to actually hire the right guy. Still so pissed JJ isn't jobless right now.

Hey, you never know. Jacobs might be dumb enough to pull it off.

I sense that this is similar to how you would've responded if I threw Chizik's name out there 4 yrs ago. Look what happened.

Agreed. All we can do is hope the BOT and other big wigs have put the fear of God in Jacobs to get this hire right.

The fact Gus is even a consideration shows how shitty this hire will be. I don't get why our administration doesn't want to win.

I'm holding out hope for Patterson or Petrino, but I'm not optimistic. I think JJ just can't help himself and will hire someone with previous AU ties.

Petrino does have Auburn ties so be more optimistic

Perhaps, yes. However, Chizik at least had success as a coordinator and was presently a HC at a big 12 school. Isn't Nix a WR coach at a D1-AAA school or did he get a promotion?

Honestly, even though I've been against him, I want Petrino. I want Patterson, Fisher, or Petrino. Tressel if the show cause thing isn't a big deal. Otherwise, idgaf Guys like Gus, Fedora, Davis, Franklin, and Strong don't do anything for me. I'd take them. I wouldn't be unhappy, but those four I listed are pretty much the minimum of what it would take to make me feel optimistic for the near future.

You hit the nail on the head. We're Auburn, and we shouldn't have to settle. Getting Gus, Fedora, Davis, Franklin, Strong, Smart or any of these types of guys would be taking a chance. It would be settling.

We don't need to settle. We need a proven winner. Go get him!

You do realize no one here actually knows who our administration is considering, right? It's all speculation at this point.

Jimmy Brumbaugh, my teammate, was on the "search committee" in 1998/99, he had no idea Tubberville was going to be hired. Spare me that BS

Maybe that's because Jimmy Brumbaugh was a fricking STUDENT then.

Yeah, because as we all know, Bo Jackson and Pat Sullivan and a man who has been a successful CEO for multiple companies (Crawford) are just the kind of men to let themselves be used as "window dressing".

Some of you are so god-damned invested in feeling bad you refuse to take a little bit of positive news and feel good.

Seems to be a common theme with some here

I agree. I will get behind anyone we hire because they represent AU. Don't want to give the impression I would not fully support whoever it is.

But I will not be happy with ANYONE that is not proven.

The first 3 you list are proven and I can feel good about.

Tressel is my own, personal fantasy. I realize the chances of that happening are slim

I'm alright with the search committee. It's a real committee and these guys are going to have input because if they feel shorted in the process they're going to say so. Pat and Bo are very outspoken and they;re not going to allow JJ to run them over. They never have. Pat doesn't even like JJ. Anyways, my only point was to say that they're not perfect. Bo really liked Chizik and pimped that hire and his tenure to the fullest.

I sure hope you're right Jones, if not, we end up with Malzahn.

Our new coach is on the current list on all the sites. My guess is by next Monday, we will have a new head coach.

It will be fast. And his name will be Bobby

Yeah I know. All former players like Chiz. He reaches out to them and cares about them. He got Bo back involved in the program as well.
