I cant hate on the call by freeze and roberts. If we rush 6 and milroe escapses and finds a open wr everyone would say drop 8 or 9 or however many it was. Idk how we dropped that many and they still got a 1on1 tho. I dont how that happened

Rushing three would have been so much better than 2.

Cant double team each rusher when we rush 3.

Dont need a spy from 30 yards out. Our D would only be 10 yards at most deep in the endzone

It helps when the QB has all day to scan for possible 1on1s then has no pressure throwing practice conditions to make the throw

Idk how many we should rush, but it should be enough to avoid the above

I’d have rushed four, maybe five. And play regular coverage. Like we did for most of the 2nd half smothering their offense in the red zone.

Prevent almost never works. It definitely doesn’t work when putting zero pressure on the QB. Not even a roll out or anything.

And Milroe’s dumbass had already shown he’s capable of running past the line of scrimmage and throwing it.

We literally chose the worst option besides an 11 man blitz to defend that play.

Put our 3-4 fastest LB’s on the d line, attack the QB.

Get our tallest WR’s and Safeties mid field and the end zone as necessary.

This isnt rocket science, put your tallest guys back there who can jump the highest.

but the staff fricked this one up in a historical way for the second week in a row.

Regardless of the call, there is no excuse for receivers getting behind the defenders in the end zone. Hehe to keep the receivers in front of you and off necessary tackle the receiver before the ball gets there of you are beat. Worst case 15 yards and replay down.

Stay in your zone and keep your eyes on the ball. From 40 yards out you can damn near run half the length of the end zone to make a play on the ball. This is why those plays are usually tip drills with 3-4 deffenders batting the ball down. We end up with a 1 on 1 cuz our dbs are face guarding LOLz

Yep that’s the main problem. Although only rushing 2 and having a spy was moronic itself. You absolutely cannot let anyone get behind you.

This, if we were gonna rush 2 why not ad a 9th DB instead of the GD LB spying?

Guess we should have had all our receivers out there on that play, they are pretty good at knocking the ball down.

It was the worst defensive play call I have ever witnessed. Two rushers and a spy from the fricking 31 yard line.

Anyone remember the TD that Aaron Murray threw to win the game in 2013? Yeah, me neither. Why? because we brought more than two players to affect the pocket. Shout out to Dee Ford for the game sealing hit on the Qb.

I remember Erin dragging Jake Holland into the EZ now that I think about it.

Not true. It was actually one of Hollands big stops on the year. Unfortunately the refs gave Aaron the TD even though he never broke the goal line. I've got a great pic on one of my old phones that shows his knee down short of the goalline

That call is indicative of coaches not being situationally aware. It’s fourth and 30. The only place that pass is going is into the end zone. if you’re a smart defensive coordinator you dial up something to force him to throw to an area you want him to throw. Bring a blitz and force him out of the pocket to his left. Now he has to set his shoulders on the run to make the pass but more importantly you’re cutting the field in half allowing db’s to converge on a much smaller area. What you don’t want to do is allow him to take his time while you’re forcing your db’s to cover 5 receivers in man coverage, sideline to sideline for 10 plus seconds. You can replay that down 100 times with that trash defensive call and you’ll get the same result over and over and over.
