Great program for sure but so are we.

As long as we keep trotting out kenpom top 10 teams and improve guard play the sky is the limit for us too. My feeling doesn’t change because another team won a few games other than that I wanna beat their arse a little more now.

No need to think we have to remodel the whole program. Tweaks at the margins and keep finding gems like CBM and Broome and hopefully don’t keep having Westry’s and Aden’s happen and having more hits like Cooper and Okoro

Westry was a miss or bad luck however you want to look at at it. Powell was bad luck. Cooper not staying a second year was bad for all sides.

Aden isn’t a miss yet but we certainly thought he would provide more coming into the season than he ultimately did and Bruce would probably agree. In retrospect I wonder if he would have asked Wendell to hang around..

I’d say if you were to criticize Bruce for this seasons roster construction the main criticism would have been to not be so hesitant to recruit over Tre or Aden by trying to add a veteran pg. I was saying all February I felt like our guards were a year away and then with CBM out we needed a playmaking guard against Yale

His loyalty has not been rewarded that is for sure. Yes KD's minutes has continued going down year after year; and his intensity is unmatched.

But that "KD being KD" turnover and foul with 4 minutes left in the game shows that he is never going to grow up. He was supposed to be playing like a veteran out there. Isaac Okoro played more mature than him as a TF.

Tre is a low ceiling, high-floor guy that is great in backup roles and I think he is where he belongs

Well that and about 3 more players who can shoot the three.

This roster has been bafflingly constructed for the last 5 seasons.

You are completely overreacting to one bad loss. Was a very untimely bad loss? Of course, but this team was near the top in the country in both offensive and defensive efficiency all year long. We need a piece or two, but it's not like we need to overhaul the whole roster.

I agree, we don't need to overreact because we have to realize we did just win the SEC tournament but Bruce does need to think about how the roster is constructed. I believe we need more scoring guards, guys that can get to the hole and knock down the 3 ball. We need to be an offensive team first then focus on defense. You can teach a player how to be an effective defender but you can't teacher just anyone how to be an effective scorer. Also, I don't care how good you claim to be on defense the referees in today's games won't let you be consistently great on defense.

Weird after the dominance of the Big 12 and the SEC that it comes down to a team from each of the big 3 conferences plus UConn

I guess I’m blinded by mediocrity or something but I thought the roster was built beautifully. Depth upon depth.

We won 26 fricking games by double digits. And 20 balled a lot of them.

We are complaining about 1 fricking game. 1 game that we actually played pretty good. 1 game where one of the other team’s guy went off from 3. Had a flagrant 2 and every 50/50 call went against us and we lost by 2.

It’s hard to win games. It’s not madden it’s not a fantasy world.

Exactly. I get playing the final result because it’s all we had but that’s not how decisions are made. We rolled out a damn good basketball team this year and only wound up with one trophy. Oh well.

Furman transfer PG JP Pegues will OV April 2-3 per JLee
His numbers are pretty impressive. Looking at him, he has benefited from 3 years in the weight room. Says he entered Furman at 165lb but has put on 20lb since. From pictures, his published 185lb looks light years ahead of Aden's 178lb.

Not just one. Better teams, same snake beat us. Guard play. Glaringly obvious against Kentucky, UT, App St, etc.

We had a good team, but it was going to be tough to go any distance in the tournament with the guards we had. Bruce has established a strong foundation, no argument, but going further requires some adjustment. Hope he isn’t as stubborn this time.

I will give you App St, it was early in the year and we played very poor. UK and UT on the other hand were extenuating circumstances. UK had about a 5-8 point lead whenJaylin got hurt and we were on a run at the time. After that we fizzled. We were up 9 or 10 with 10 mins left at UT. Knecht went off for 25pts in the last 9 mins. Most of which were contested shots.

The fact we have gone gung-ho after a transfer PG tells me Bruce has adjusted. Bruce definitely is slow to change, but he is at least willing to change and once he decides to make a change he does it full force it seems.

I can point to teams with very good guards that played like crap in 3-4 games their team dropped. That’s basketball

I still think you are dismissing the fact this issue has plagued us for years to act like this happens. I think the issue is systematic.

I think it’s just been a couple of misses. Westry was supposed to be a huge part of the 22-23 team and was a zero and then Aden was probably eyed as a 10-12 ppg scorer preseason and was a role player. Can’t keep missing for sure but I wouldn’t call it “systematic”

We were 3-7 in quad 1 games.

Bruce’s record in quad 1 games over the past 5 seasons is significantly below .500.

Again, no one cares about winning games in Auburn arena. Hardly any of them are quad 1. What matters is wins on the road or on a neutral court.

We blew it on the road in the SEC and against Appalachian state and Baylor.

Alabama is in the Final Four and has been in the sweet 16 three of the last four years.

NC State’s run this year shows how slim the margins can be in basketball. We make a couple FTs against Yale and who knows.

We had a really great team this year. We won a championship. I’m tired of people trying to place blame somewhere. There was almost a perfect storm against us in the Yale game.
