Broome has been such a dang good player for us. And his numbers have ticked up in efficiency in conference play. First team All-SEC and if he can get some more help around him he has an outside chance at SEC POTY

Need to feed him often on Saturday, with how this team shoots on the road.

OM is a really bad matchup for Broome with Cisse and Sharp. Likely going to need other guys to step up in this one.

Holloway in the SEC...

Overall shooting: 17-63 .270
3 Point Shooting: 11-47 .234

My guess is he needs a lot of strength to help with his game because he's small. Teams started getting on him as he crosses half court and it bothers him. Bothers Tre too.

Another crazy stat...This is KD in SEC play.

Overall: 14-49 .286
From 3: 3-20 .150

Our beach was 1-11 from 3 last night. Awful.

Hoping this is the game Aden gets it going. They will start falling at some point. Sometimes it just takes one to get you out of slump. He’ll have an easier time with 5’ 8” Juju Murray on him too.

The good news is last year KD really blossomed from 3 in February and March going for a combined 18-40.

Granted KD has regressed his whole career in all the metrics, but I think he can help us one more time.

Last night was the first game I've been to so paid a little more attention than a tv game for me. Our PGs really struggled breaking down their defense off the dribble. #5 was giving them fits. That position is going to have to step it up if we want to do anything this year. Broome is a grown man. He's our best player by far. Jalyn is still good, but tends to just completely disappear at times.

Need KD to find some rhythm for sure. He was a pretty good player all of non-conference play and much of the end of last season. Hoped he had turned the corner.

I will say he has played much smarter regardless, and is never forcing anything this year. Not to mention you can always count on his defensive effort and he’s had some spectacular chase down blocks. But we could definitely benefit from him attacking the basket more often and looking for transition chances

KD has to get back to getting downhill and in the middle of the paint, drawing contact.

It seems he keeps settling for those baseline drives which is where the defense wants him to go. He’s got the first step to do it consistently but he lets the ball stick too damn long once he gets its. Catch, make a move, and go.

Unfortunately guards let us down again.

Back to the drawing board for Bruce. He needs to recruit Holloway to stay. The stay one year-disappoint-leave Chance Westry plan helps nobody! Holloway and Petitford have to be the turnaround.

Fwiw Westrey is still hurt and hasn’t been medically cleared by Syracuse.

I’m hopeful Aden is just suffering through the grind of the season and he will start rounding into form toward the end of the season. The defense in the SEC is something a lot of these AAU stars have to adjust to. Aden and Tre both over dribble and need to understand how to attack off the dribble then distribute better. I’d like to see them get a few minutes a game together with Aden at the two to get some more catch and shoot opportunities over his typical dribble pull ups.

KD has improved his decision making a ton. In games where he shoots in rhythm and stays in the flow of the offense while generating a couple of turnovers and easy buckets in transition, he really makes a difference and takes us to another level. Been a couple of weeks since he has done that.

CBM has come back to earth a bit now that conference play is in full swing, but he is still an effective player for us.

While they won’t be great every single game, Broome and J Will are our only truly dependable players. We need one or both point guards to step up a bit. Tre seems much closer to getting there than Aden at this point.

I still assert that we will go as far as Tre and Aden are able to develop and effectively run the point.

Agreed. To make a run, Tre and Aden don't have to be superstars or even stars but we need at least one of them to be an effective PG every single time out. That includes defense (and both of them have been much better than expected, remember opposing guards lighting us up all year last year?) and making sure we are getting the ball to the right spots on offense. No stupid turnovers but also look for spots to make plays in transition. Don't play with a timid mindset. It might mean that Aden needs to stop taking the deep threes for a little while until he finds his rhythm again. By all accounts he is a good shooter but the tough ones aren't going to get him back on track.

I think saturdays game is likly the most important game of the season. I dont see a path to winning the sec if we lose. If we win and come home and beat the breaks off of Alabama everything gets going back in the right direction

We won’t be out of it if we lose Saturday but we just have so many difficult games to go it’s definitely an important game.

Currently I would put odds that UT wins the conference. Followed by AU, bammer, and a surprise team (Ole Miss, USCe). Just think the schedule leads for UT to have the easiest path

It’s definitely a hinge point of sorts for fan expectations I would say. If we win we are firmly in the conference title race, if we lose I’ll adjust to just hoping to make the tournament with a decent seed and hoping we get hot at the ideal time

I still don’t know how good this team is. Could be an elite 8 type team or could be a hope to win 1 game in the tournament type team. 6 of the next 7 are currently Quad 1 games. 5-2 minimum needed to stay in SEC regular season race, imo. That would give us a chance at 14-4.
