Don’t really agree. There’s a backup PG role up for grabs and he has a chance to learn from one of the best PGs in the league. He’s not going to instantly step on the court and start for anyone right now. I don’t see him ever being a star in the NBA, so a chance at a solid backup role isn’t a bad thing, IMO.

Smoke I agree with you. I could see a Chris Paul type if he can get better defensively and develop a pull up jump shot off the drive. I think he can get better with his suddeness and quicks just has to have to want to. Play good defense and stay in the league 12+ years.

Trae Young avg 34mpg. Cooper being able to fight for 10-15mpg is soliD for a RD2 pick

He’s gotta figure out defense first. That buys him time to work on the shot. Teams will work with that profile

That’s where I went. Graduated 09. I’m guessing he was one of the first classes if he played vs Josh Smith tho. Josh came to a couple of our games when his nephew or cousin one was on our team in 07. When Josh was at Mceachern they had Morris Almond too. No fricking clue how they didn’t win a state title with those two. Then he left for Oak Hill his junior year.

And he did

You nailed it on Coop and the Hawks. Nice....

It just goes to show us as fans, take with a grain of salt all this pub that was coming out to the media about how well he was doing in the combines, and he was going to be the best PG available in the draft....

I think there were 10 PGs taken ahead of him.

In the end it ended up being like many of us were concerned with, and that was his lack of D and his weak outside shot.

I just hate that for both he and Thor their contracts are not guaranteed I think since they went in 2nd round...

I wonder if FSU has snuck in there now? I saw where they offered him.

Haven't heard much noise from AU Crystal ballers?

He announces Aug 19th. He’ll probably focus on bball. I’m OK missing on him if that’s the case. He’s a multi year guy if not which we know has it’s own benefits

The Jones, apparently Zion Cruz announces that day as well. Should be a great day for Auburn.

So happy for all these guys but it's so weird having someone play good enough to get drafted and we don't even know them after only 1 year.

So the Hawks signed him to a two-way contract. I imagine he will be stuck in the GLeague until he proves shooting improvement + effort on defense.

If Cooper proves himself, he has a very clear path to spending time on the Hawks roster. Trae averages only 35mpg and the only backup PG for the remaining 10-15 mpg is 34YO vet Lou Williams on a 1 YR deal.

The obvious paths are injuries but in today's league, it is very likely that during mid season grinds, a 3rd PG is called up for load management relief

Looking like the 19th could be a really good day for Auburn sports

It should. I wonder if the 19th is the last day before both coaching staffs start to switch gears. Or is there an event that day?

Christian Clemente, some Auburn mod on Rivals logging CBs for Omari Kelly and Tre Donaldson to Auburn. He also thinks Donaldson is a basketball primary

Is the expectations that we sign 1 player for all 5 spots this year?

1-PG
1-SG/CG
1-SF
1-PF
1-C

We have what 11 scholarships. Most expect Jabari to be 1 and done. That will be 3 scholarships available. I expect someone will jump to either the G league or the draft, my guess is Williams or Flanigan. So that puts you at 4.

Student intern for the Auburn rivals site, he's been on their podcast for a while now and he's actually way better than any of the regular staff writers/ hosts (Jay Tate, Bryan Matthews, Jeff Lee, Nathan King).

He has some legit in's with both the football and basketball teams, but basketball in particular.

He seems to have some legit journalist chops/sense about him. He'll make some school a very good beat writer one day.
