Good pickup. I think we'll have quality play from '21-'23 at the 5 position via Cardwell/Akingbola. A little worried about '20, but good shape long term.

This is an interesting nugget. ESPN has Auburn #6 in class rankings even before the Cardwell commitment. Not sure when they will do the next update but there’s a chance Auburn could get in the top five. Cardwell is the highest rated 3 * C by ESPN.

The other sites have made their updates with the card well commitment.

Rivals: #7
247: #9
Composite: #8

this has a really good chance of being Auburn’s first consensus top 10 recruiting class in history.

Have absolutely no idea. From a couple people connected to Auburn on the bunker it’s likely not gonna be Kuminga. It could be a transfer guard Or a guard that reclassified from 2021 to the 2020 class.

So to summarize this is where we are (per 247)

Signed Letter of Intent

Sharife Cooper @ PG
Chris Moore @ PF
Justin Powell @ SG

Hard Commits

JT Thor @ PF
Dylan Cardwell @ C

And we can have 13?

Anyone missing?

Yes

Not sure what you're asking but we have 1 spot left right now.

FWIW a couple people who usually have solid info said yesterday that if Josh Langford transfers they like our chances. Likely at least a few weeks before we find out anything.

I'm a lifelong Michigan State basketball fan I rarely miss a game. Langford is a natural shooter with good length, he handles the ball very well and doesn't get frazzled under pressure. He can drive, create his own space, and spot up. High bball IQ, fundamentally sound, not amazingly athletic but slightly above average. Can defend multiple position. Think Scottie Pippin type player if Pippin was 6'5.

247 is putting out their final rankings. So far Cooper fell 4 spots, Thor rose 4 spots, and Moore fell 16 spots. Currently ranked 8th in team rankings which is 0.01 behind Arizona. Not sure if they’ve finalized rankings outside the top 150.

They have. Cardwell moved up from 160 to 150 on the composite the day before he committed because of his bump on 247.

Bruce's early years at AU were really difficult after watching Tom Izzo teams for 20+ years. I don't think there was much emphasis on defense or rebounding early on for Bruce

I'm super pumped for the Orlando Invitational

Bowers was a key member on the early Bruce teams. He’s probably the worst defender I’ve ever seen at the 4 or 5 in the SEC.

I loved Bowers, but those teams never had a chance on the defensive end for reasons beyond just him.

Loved Bowers. He was fun to watch and he loved the game. Imperfect player but he was 100% bought in and it gave me confidence about the future with Pearl

Same. He had some spurts that made him look like NBA material. He also had plenty of WTF moments

Yall remember Jack Purchase? He ended up having a good career at Hawaii but didn't get drafted.
