Could have sworn I heard Keith mention what I mentioned on Marcello's podcast over the weekend.
I love Keith! He’s a great source for football recruiting. Not so much for basketball recruiting and he’ll be the first one to admit it.

WOw, I read that too, and it's hard enough to compete with the top basketball schools for recruits, but when you add in the NBA, and now G-league money, its easy to see why players that are in the top 5 in recruiting could easily get 6 figures as meal money, play in the G-league, and do what you always wanted to do which was play professional basketball.

And someone like Green knows he's going to be in the NBA one way or another after either a year in college or in the G-league...

Yeah, and the G-League is in immensely better shape than it was 3-4 years ago. Much better talent in it these days, so you can actually maintain your draft stock, while getting paid and staying in the states.

If the G League is going to start dishing out those kind of contracts, the only things college has over it is better coverage/exposure. Considering that it's only the most elite players getting these type of deals out of HS, they likely don't need much more exposure.

Especially when these elite HS players know they are not going to be in college 1 year or possibly 2. They aren't going to get a degree anyway.

So going to class, etc. seems a lot less exciting than getting paid good money even playing in the G-league. They are now playing NBA type ball, and just a short time from playing in the NBA before they are 20 years old...

It's all but over with Green. JLee had a hoop scoops today saying our staff confidence has taken a massive drop & it doesn't look good. Other insiders that have posted in the thread have basically said the same thing.

What happened to our bagmen? We can't even match the G-League?

This has to be really frustrating for our staff. I hate it for Bruce, who has spoken out in the past about how hard it is to recruit against blue bloods. Now we have to recruit against 500k offers....

500k isn’t even including shoe deals yet. Green made the right decision but it does suck.

Wonder if this is the last time BP goes for true blue chippers, depending on how Brown and Kuminga go.

Seems unwise going forward with the new G-League viability, and eventual NBA eligibility change

Geez in like 2 days this G League changed from 100k to 250k to 500k.

Can the G league be allowed to pay 500k for a player not mentioned as even a high draft pick?

Where would Green be drafted if he just declared for the draft if he is that good?

Green would definitely be a lottery pick, imo. Not sure how high. Weak draft

Agreed. I would be worried but our final 4 team needed coaching not fourth and fifth stars. Orherwise, the blue blood coaches might have to adapt...although I see where Kentucky had a commit that spurned the 500k.

I wonder how the G-league is financially. Can't imagine ticket sales being that great.

The clips I've seen from Bryce's g league teams looks like they are playing in a high school gym with very little attendance.

I wonder if they change something about the timing of being able to declare you're intent to go pro vs going to college.

I went to a G-league game in Atlanta in January, and I was shocked how nice the arena was that the Atlanta area G-league team played in. Almost new, clean, and on a small scale plenty to eat. They had team cheerleaders too.

I went to see Bryce Brown's team play but ofc he was hurt and i was so ticked. But the crowd was small, even though it was a Sunday I think.

THe main draw back was there was very little fan noise for the size of the arena.

But if I am making 100k-250k, i could care less about the crowds, as it is a means to get me to the NBA while making a very good salary at 18 or 19 years of age.
