When did women volleyball start practicing at Auburn Arena? I’ve only known them to practice at the old SAC. This had to have started in the last couple years. The practice gym didn’t have volleyball net inserts in the floors nor did it have lines for volleyball

Hooks was posting about facility needs

1- Locker Room Upgrade: Currently in the works

2- Practice facility/weightroom: Currently shares with other sports. Was even a situation where BBall walkthrough was moved outside on concrete when Women Volleyball had the court

3- Scoreboard: The scoreboard is an absolute disaster. It sucks when it works and it rarely works / regularly crashes

4- Sounds system: slated for complete overhaul

5- AU plane usage. Supposedly Bruce has had some trouble reserving the plane at various points

1) In progress

5) Easy resolution

3&4) Baffling that we need to redesign/fix tech that’s only a few years old, but should be doable by next year. Maybe we should get some Troy grads to figure it out. Their A/V program is highly regarded

2) Do we build a basketball only practice facility somewhere?

The only reasonable solution is to convert the indoor volleyball team into a beach volleyball team

I know a bit about the scoreboard. This is the result of being cheap in the beginning then a cheap band-aid fix

1) We Originally chose a shite, unimpressive scoreboard from a shite company. Hooks said company is now out of business

2) We built a second addtl scoreboard. You know how there is a top/bottom display on the scoreboard? Ya those are ENTIRELY SEPARATE scoreboards by 2 separate companies that operate on different systems.

The original one frequently crashes and reboots during games.

3) We added the ribbon. While cool AF addition, yet a 3rd system to control independent of primary scoreboard

Regarding sound, we had shitty AF speakers in football for years. You think they were putting good speakers in for basketball in the Lebo era?

Why don't we just kick everyone but mbb sports out?

Auburn visited couple five star prospects and one 3 star center around the Virginia area yesterday.
5 star SG Cameron Thomas
5 star PF Jaemyn Brakefield (Currently CBed to Kentucky)
3 star C Dylan Cardwell

Jaemyn is exploring reclassifying to 2019 and we may be trying to fit him in the class.

Just looked at some quick highlights. I want him

For a guy his size, he looks really smooth moving on the court. He also is a sparkplug. Seems to be a rim running lob guy right now.

Our practice facilities are adequate for basketball. (2 complete floors)easy fix is to kick the volleyball team out and move them to Beard Eaves. Not sure where gymnastics practices.

NOTE: we upgraded the volley ball team lockers at Pearl Arena within the last couple of years.

Anybody know how hard we're recruiting Jayden Stone? C/o 2020 4* SG out of Sacred Heart in Anniston, but originally from Australia. Seems like a very good 3pt shooter that would fit well into the Bryce role

The Stone recruitment has been a quiet one for sure.

Marcello is reporting that Bruce and others met with the Wiley family today and the general feeling is Wiley is returning, though no promises were made.

Yeah I’m starting to wonder about him. Sounding a little fanboyish. I’d think someone of his experience knows a thing or two about not writing checks that he can’t possibly cash. Love his enthusiasm but we would have to win battles with Cooper, Boston, Greg Brown, and Stone to be in the running for #1 at a minimum. And that’s assuming Cooper doesn’t reclass. And with all the talk about him possibly reclassifying, all the beat writers are still talking as if he’s a 2020 guy.

Marcello says Jerdarrion Davison, a 6’2 2021 PG from Letohatchee Alabama will be visiting tomorrow. He will be a highly rated kid when his time comes and we need to win this battle.

I mentioned that a handful of posts up.

From Corey Evans of Rivals:

quote:

The class of 2020 is a bit short for high-major talent in the frontcourt which should only push Rongie Gordon’s name higher up within power conference recruiting boards in the nearby future. While he is a bit undersized at the power forward spot, Gordon doesn’t lack for instincts, a motor, the ability score inside and out, and defensive versatility. It was all on tap Friday evening as the three-star forward finished with a complete stat line of 22 points and five rebounds. He has been close to inclusion within the Rivals150 over the past few updates but his night session in Chicago was enough to put him over the top for when it comes time to update the 2020 rankings.

On the recruiting front, things are beginning to pick up for Gordon as Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech and UAB are among those that have already offered. However, Gordon told Rivals.com that Auburn is the program that might be the school to beat as he has made a number of visits to the SEC program’s campus over the months. If that is the case, Auburn fans should imagine the next Anfernee McLemore in tow which means a solid two-way threat that should make for a positive impact each time he hits the floor.

And fwiw, judging by his highlights, he doesn’t live above the rim like Mclemore can do at his healthiest. Not a perfect comparison.

He's real stiff like Nick Ward. Slow to get off the ground, not Wiley slow but not Zion fast. I'd like to see how his touch is around the rim. He could be a beast with more weight on him.
