Off the top of my head and granted it was UM arse, but positives:

Penalty free
Stupid penalty free
Injury free
Mistake / turnover free
Robbie and Payton will work
Played like a team
No laziness, loafing - lots of hustle
Playing time for errybody, especially freshmen to 3-4 deep
TDs scored in multiple ways, 6 different players, 1 by D
Covered the spread
Sell out
D with several takeaways
@300 yds rushing w/o Jarquez / 7 ypc
Both lines played well
7 TFLs / 4 QB sacks, other no gains, pressures and hurries
No sacks given up
Punt returns
Tons of film, should see a much more polished team vs. Cal
Undefeated, mercy knee at the 6

Negatives? We gave up a 101 yard rusher. I missed their first drive but sounded yucky, and the TD against our back-back ups in the 4th, but I'm all Posi today. War Eagle!

Bring on the Bears!

It was fun to have Auburn football back and always good to have a pain free win… but I don’t think we learned much at all. I think I am maybe slightly more worried about our DL than I was before and slightly less worried about our OL. Still no clue about the QB’s

Sean Jackson was our leading rusher with 64 yards.

I’m concerned about rush defense too.

Looked like we misfit several runs. Ran ourselves out of plays.

O looked good.

D has some issues. Tackling is a huge one.

I hope Thorne stays healthy.

We looked good, and I’m glad Freeze has a history of success in the SEC. I’m sure there were many threads full of excitement after Harsin’s first game. I can remember the crowd pretty much giving him a standing ovation at the end for how we performed in our opening cupcake game.

We’ll learn a lot more once SEC play starts.

Harsin beat Akron 60-10 his first game, so these games don't mean much.

But I will say the defense woke up after the first drive which was encouraging. Also no turnovers which is big.

We'll know more next week when AU plays a P5 team. I am glad the Cal game is on the road. It will be a nice test early for this team without being an SEC loss.

Offensive line - well pleased
Starting QB Thorne - very good
Package QB Ashford - great job
Backup QB Ashford - not good
Backup QB Geriner - good
Running backs - excellent
Wide receivers - mostly good
Tight ends - good blocking, invisible as receivers

Defensive line - started horribly, improved to adequate
Linebackers - ineffective and a non-factor
Secondary - great game

Special teams - very good

We look well coached. Didn’t look lazy or sloppy for game 1. Tackling will improve

Cal is hitting on all cylinders on offense.

Playing their QB2 this game and it looks like it’s paying off.

Only negative outside of rush defense on that first series for me was our outside WRs need to catch contested balls and get open.

Im not really sure we learned a lot to be honest. We had some playmakers make plays. Offensive line seem to play well but it was against a terrible team.

Running back depth seems to be good. I like that they all got to carry the rock today. We have a few playmakers at WR. Just need to get open and throw to them.

The defense to me was iffy. The big QB was busting our arse until he got hurt. I am not sure how many SEC teams have a running Qb this year but that could give us issues. The over all rush defense was bad. I hope they tighten that up

I honestly dont love any of the QB's. Throne made some great throws today but I think we all expected that. He also seemed a little out of sorts at time. The redzone offense with him was not great. I like that Robby made some plays but I think that is a short term thing due to our opponent. We have to punch it in with our starters. I think its obvious for most that we have to stick with Thorne if we want a passing attack. No way we have one with Robbie. He is a runner and its pretty obvious. We didnt see enough of Holden to tell what he can do with the 1's against the 1's

Coaching was good. I like what Hugh did. Played a lot of guys, kept the play calling fresh and did not panic.

Its hard to make any honest opinions when our opponent was so soft. Next week will be interesting going across the country, changing 3 time zones and being up a little better competition. Though 7 of the teams we play this year would destroy Cal. Hope we do the same

Two former AU coaches coaching on the same team right now.

UNC - Chizk is DC, Chip Lindsey is OC
