Nothing to it yet, just the way coach talked about it after A-day made it seem like they were possibly in the dog house. Who knows, could be nothing, could be contact tracing.

Harsin would’ve stated if it’s COVID or a medical issue.

Agreed! That’s why I’m leaning towards it being a discipline issue

So Coach Harsin is not giving our medical or disciplinary information on players in interviews?

Probably was covid, and no you cant broadcast out private information.

He also made some comment afterwards about not making a big deal out of it.

Alec Jackson and Moultry were held out as well.

In defense of the receivers, how would we know if they had separation, the long balls I saw yesterday were thrown WAAAAY late and underthrown, the receiver and half the DBs were standing there eating popcorn waiting for the ball to drop.

I did hear some comments about them running the wrong routes, and there were some drops, but also some nice catches, and a few good blocks.

On paper, as a group, I believe this is one of the highest ranking receiver recruits we have had, thats in total not individuals. Now lets see what the coaches can do with them.

No, don't think it's just covid. His exact comment said they were not there "for different reasons".

So there are some other issues some players are having to work through...

The timing was definitely way off on the deep routes. But, on a lot of the shorter and intermediate routes (yeah, we actually run those now) some of the guys were having trouble getting separation, and that was against the 2nd team DBs.

I’m not saying the WRs aren’t talented by any means. Most of the guys out there at A-day are very inexperienced. Kobe Hudson or Canion probably have the most game snaps of the guys that were playing. It is definitely something that could be improved through more reps.

IMO our biggest weakness from the other big boys in the conference is at WR. By far the biggest weakness and it’s not close. Take a look at bama’s freshmen yesterday. Especially the Hall kid. Day and night between quality of player.

Late Kick

I was really excited for the season, now I can back off expectations just a bit......who am I kidding? Undefeated!

This was like most other spring games for me, all excited, watch about two drives then lose interest. Nothing really impressed me. Bummer on that Late Kick vid. That guy I think is more right than wrong.

WR I would think would be an easy position to recruit too. They don't all have to be 6'2".

That is pretty much every position Bama vs Auburn. Best recruiting class every year for 10 years will do that

Just read that Najee article. They are a G League for the NFL, crazy. UGA talent is getting there also across the board. That is why we had to make the change, and hope the slow the gap

I thought and still think Gus is a good coach. Missed bad on QB development. If he would have just kept getting true dual threat QBs and let them throw between 20-30 times a game, keep on the read around 10 times a game, and continued tempo I think he would still be winning. He wasn’t going to get NFL type QBs in that system. He wasn’t going to get NFL type WRs in that system so he chose a different philosophy and never developed a more complex passing scheme. Outside of complexity in the pass route all the other parts of the offfense was very good on the structure. Just been around and lost the fan base then recruiting took a hit. Just my opinion so all the Gus haters just take it as that

He got paid $49 million, but did not produce $49 million results.

It’s that simple. If he was getting mid level SEC money, his results were ok.

His best season was his first season.

Were we a consistent winning program competing year in and year out for hardware under Gus?

The salary basically got him fired. Caviar price for shad roe results.

Harsin will either build a program to compete with Alabama and Georgia or he will be gone.

I see where you are going with this but alas one of his major problems was changing the game plan the night before a game and not sticking with what the kids practiced all week on offense. I think he did that early and was successful at times but the past few years he changed it up and we lost games where we shouldn't have and became way to predictable. He didn't develop his offense over time and once that gets stale or predictable then it is easy to defend. Enough tape predicts the patterns and predictability.

Well, yes and no. AU in the Gustav Era followed a distinct pattern:

- We consistently stumbled out of the gate, losing at least one of our first four games every season except 2014 and 2019. “Four Game Gus” was real.

-Then the offense would gel, usually behind a stud RB (who typically wasn’t the starter at the beginning of the season) and we would start demolishing opponents and look like legit contenders.

-Finally, a significant injury - usually to aforementioned stud RB, but also to QB in ‘16 - would expose our complete lack of depth at those positions, and we would stumble through Amen Corner and fall out of the running. 2017 was the only exception to this pattern, as the key injury (KJ) came in Game 12 rather than 8 or 9.

-Rinse and repeat.

The PTB thought Gustav deserved caviar money after 2017, and that the only reason we hadn’t repeated as SEC Champs since ‘13 was just bad injury luck. I think last year finally proved conclusively that he was way underperforming, and was never going to live up to the championship potential displayed that magical November that led to the ridiculous and ruinous extension.
