Funny thing about quick slants, I don't see other defenses getting eaten up by them like ours. Any wise oc should just throw them non stop against auburn.

The defense is maddening. Heck, Ted Roof was better than this.

It seems some players on defense are legitimately afraid of hits.

Watching the A&M game, I'd see many players in position to make a tackle or big hit, but they'd just jump past them, hoping to make an arm tackle with their momentum.

We had players in position to make the plays; scheme isn't an issue, really. Either we have bad talent on D or we aren't coaching them properly. Since "don't arm tackle" isn't really a shocking or new concept on defense, I'll lean towards the players not really being that great.

I think it's all because lack of pressure for the DLine. If we had pressure like last we would be way better. I don't think it matter who our DC is with no pressure from the line.

We had pressure in the Ole Miss game and something like 5 sacks and it didn't matter. Watch the games: DB's taking horrible angles, DB's failing to tackle, guy's just getting burnt and/or making horrible mistakes...that all doesn't fall on the DL. Our secondary is non-existent right now.

Well, D played a terrible first half.

However, we lost that game as a team.

CAP fumbled the first possession. He had a great game but did help put us in the whole.

Nick pulled it back and fumbled late. He had a great game overall as well.

Special teams gave up a td from a blocked kick.

Defense got torched for 28 in the first half. But they held AtM to 6 points in the second. And got the ball back for us and nearly a safety with the game on the line.

Bottom line, our guys played their asses off. They wanted it and gave it all they had. We just made too many mistakes and didn't catch any breaks on the critical calls that could have gone either way.

It sucks and we probably lost our shot at any kind of championshipthis year.

Like Dye once said, ain't a damn thing we can do about it, but lay it on the line again and see what happens the next time.

I don't get the problem with the DBs. We have proven coaches and as good of talent as or better than State or Clemson, where they came from.

Anyone who watched A&M vs USCe should have seen this coming. Sumlin's Air Raid feast on blitzing LB's with quick slants. You have to have lock down corners to deal with it if you blitz. Unfortunately for us we have no choice but to blitz and we have good corners but not lock down corners.

In the end the D puts to much pressure on a great O. The O has to play perfect at the end of the game they didn't.

Does anyone have any doubt that we'll make Mason and Sims look like Heisman candidates by leaving the slot uncovered for the entire game?

At some point we have to adjust, you can't concede the quick slant on every play.

Also, what happened to our run defense? We got abused on the D line last night.
