IMO, defenses mimic the attitudes of their coaches.
Alabama - Saban
LSU - Miles
Florida - Muschamp
Auburn - Ellis
One is not like the other and it shows every Saturday

I loved Boom when he was coaching our Defense.
I know some people on this board don't think he's worth a damn, but I always loved how fired up he was for games.
The players seemed to respond to him, as well.
I'm still mad at Texas for stealing him, tbh.
But he hates JJ, blah blah blah...

I think you could pull donations for his salary from the AU fan base right now and cover at least half or more of his pay for the next 4 years

Hire Boom as DC, bring in Takeo to coach linebackers, bring back Rocker for DE's and assistant DC and keep Gardner as DT's and recruiting coordinator, then hire T-Rob to coach secondary with Muschamp. Problem solved.
