Mason is as good a DC as there is out there.
My only concern, as was mentioned several pages back, is the scheme he runs is pretty similar to what Saban runs, and also I think to what Kirby runs.

If Auburn institutes the same scheme, then doesn't that mean we are recruiting the exact same guys as those two programs? Unfortunately, I think it would be a hard sell to pick AU (at this point) over one of those programs to fit into the same scheme.

It's already a hard sell. Get the athletes and develop then.

We already are. With the way offenses are now, most everyone is running a 4-2-5 or a 3-3-5. The days of the old 3-4 are pretty much gone.

We already are recruiting the same guys. I highly doubt there are many guys on either of bama’s or uga’s roster we wouldn’t take.

Spencer Danielson just started following Derek Mason so that's all the confirmation I need

I’d give my left kidney if Bobo can turn Nix into Matt Stafford.

I think remember UGA fans being okay with Bobo as OC.

I think he has struggled as HC but he was actually decent as OC, less 2020 at SCAR but nobody finds success there if we’re being honest. They did beat us though... lol

I think Bobo would be a fine hire but I was hoping for more of an up and comer.

I think we could do worse than Bobo plus with Harsin being an offensive guy it hopefully works out.

If it is Bobo I think we need to go after Stacy Searels for Oline Coach. He coached with Bobo at UGA, then went to Texas with Harsin, and played for Auburn and was a GA at Auburn. Just seems like a perfect match.

The HBC crushed it there until his interest and desire left him.

Bobo brought a 5* QB there that wasn't a legacy. I will give him a chance.

ETA

And the R&G wouldn't set well with the elite RBs we can get on an annual recruiting class. Bobo, regardless of what anyone thinks of him, is way better than anyone we have had at coaching offense since Bobby Petrino.

If Harsin is thinking about hiring Bobo then he's obviously got something in his mind which I don't fully understand. Harsin has historically let his OCs call plays, but he has his own offense. I was expecting someone more along the lines of a 2016 Rhett Lashlee type to come in as an assistant to run Harsin's offense.

Bobo isn't awful, but I seem to recall him saying Cam Newton should be a tight end, and recruiting HS QB Nick Marshall to play corner. I realize that both of those guys were much better suited to Gus' offense than Bobo's as potential quarterbacks, but Jesus, talent is talent. One won a Natty and the other one went there.

Not sold on Bobo, and confused about it to begin with.

Yep so 5* QB Gunnar Stockton could be in play for Auburn if Bobo is hired, according to KN.

Harsin is going after recruiters if his OC/DC picks are truly Mason and Bobo. And they can both coach

Am I the only one that hated the Bobo hire when it was Kevin Steele's rumored choice but now that it is Harsin's I'm talking myself in to Bobo being able to turn Nix into Stafford?
