Mason is as good a DC as there is out there.

Just because his teams at Vandy weren't good, doesn't mean he can't coach D. You all seem to confuse the 2. It's Vandy.

Harsin coached against him 5 times as CSU head coach so he is very familiar with his offense. Maybe he saw something we haven’t.

JGT says to watch for Bryan McClendon (Oregon WR/PGC) if Bobo is the OC. They worked together at Georgia. Both are pretty elite recruiters (or Bobo at least was).

Exactly. Not sure who everyone else thinks would be a good hire.

FootballScoop reporting he wants Bobo.

I mean Bobo does run a pro-style sorta like Harsin, but man I dunno. What is this obsession with Bobo from all these HC's? Beamer said Bobo was at the top of his list for OC even if he wasn't already on USCe staff. I don't get it. He had a few good years at UGA, but nothing special, imo.

And would Bobo even leave USCe after committing to Beamer? Would be kinda shitty, honestly.

EDIT:

BTW, I am very happy with Mason. He's about as good a hire as I could expect.

If Bobo is a recruiter maybe that’s the angle.

Southern ties. Really good recruiter. Still mainly Harsin’s offense. Idk.

We have two threads talking about the same thing. I’m going to continue in this one but what the frick are we doing here?

Anyways, 247 is adjusting their earlier wording on Mason from a “strong factor” to being “very likely” announced as DC.

Yeah it would be nice if we could consolidate the staff hire discussion to one thread and have it stickied.

As for tonight's rumors, I can probably get on board with Mason, but I'd still prefer Avalos over anyone else at this point.

Bobo doesn't move the needle for me. Once Lebby was off the table, I moved to hoping we snagged McGee from UGA primarily for recruiting purposes.

Well idk anything about it besides it’s usually the first site to break a lot of coaching hires

Although these posts don’t say we’ve hired them.

On the verge of hiring Mason for DC per football scoop

PM reported he was a contender on 247 a few days back! And Football scoop probably got that from PM here LINK

I like that hire if it happens! And I think he can whip that dc's arse at Florida.

He owns the Auburn and Oregon 247 sites, and footballrumormill.com, which to the best of my knowledge, is just a lightly active Twitter page

I betcha the Bobo rumors are true. Harsin coached against Bobo numerous times when Bobo was at CSU. Harsin has said in the past he has a lot of respect for Bobo and his offenses. He and Bobo got into a shootout one year that went into OT. Score was like 53-50 or something.

So it makes sense. It's a guy he already knows and has coached against a lot. It's also a guy who has a ton of SEC experience. Sometimes coaches are very inclined to hire guys they know or coached against. It's just the way it is.

It may not happen because Bobo may decide to keep his commitment to USCe. But I bet the rumors of offers are likely true. Bobo would prolly need a decent raise to leave USCe at this point. He has like 5 kids and that shite ain't easy to deal with.
