Did you play college ball? DI, DII, JuCo? Etc

AUSCgrad2016 could you do us folks with ADHD a favor and put a TLDR summary at the end of your wall texts? Thanks.

So yea, when I see something that is easily correctable since I have had that experience before but see a coach at this level not see it, it does frustrated me and flabbergast me how they allow it continue to happen. I also know this too, the higher the level of competition in basketball the coach, the more stubborn and rigid they are with sticking with their philosophy.
I too have been around the game my entire life, and have yet to see you suggest anything particular insightful to be honest. I can tell you love the game but not sure why you are trying to portray yourself as some sort of basketball savant. This is just a message board bro

Bruce is off-limits but nobody is perfect. I dont like several things about Pearl's philosophy but at the end of the day I trust him. I sleep well at night knowing he will get good players. He is the best coach I've seen and I started paying attention during the days of Kyle Davis, Marquis Daniels, Lewis Monroe

As they say. Game knows game.
Solution last night clearly was just foul the guy that was shooting lights out. lol

I love Bruce, but he's not perfect.
We have 2 2's playing the 1. It going to be a problem at times.
We also have a 5 playing the 4 much of the time. Some teams are going to torch us there as they did last night.
Last night was very frustrating to watch down the stretch. Happy we won and let's move on, but we have to play better at the 1...especially in the last 10 minutes. We also can't have our best player melt down when he doesn't get a call.

DII
I understand you’re saying basketball is the same, but I would think DII would be different than SEC DI with needing scheme, plans, etc. No disrespect.
You said you don’t follow football but a prime example is Zach Calzada. He’s balling out in DII but couldn’t cut it in DI.
What works for one conference might not translate well to the step up.
I wrestled, moves that worked for HS wouldn’t even come close to being successful in the All-American tournaments

I’m just ribbing the kid. He probably knows a lot of ball and possibly a hard foul might have changed something up but college basketball is different now. 17 different camera angles the last thing we need is to be known for “hard fouls” that are uncalled for. In conference play we get shat on by officials continually. So don’t need that hanging over us.
Isn’t great where Bruce has us. Complaining about a 5 pt win over a Q1 opponent on the road. We were 0-11 the past 2 seasons in Q1 games on the road.

Thought Denver played well at the 1 and has pretty consistently lately other than that one horrendous turnover and it was a big one.

My son and I were there, a few observations. There were a lot of AU people there. Moody is like Neville in that the fans are right on top of the court, with courtside seating. Moody has an extra story added on the top, with more club areas than Neville, and generally has a swankier feel to it. We were in the Germania Insurance-sponsored club, which had a nice buffet and a glassed in hallway that the Longhorn players walked through to go on court. The Texas students are very close to the visiting bench - aren't our students opposite the benches at Neville?
The 2nd half, especially the late 2nd half, was called in a very lopsided manner. Early in the game, we seemed almost chummy with the refs, the crowd was relatively sedate once we took the lead, and the game was called evenly.
A good chunk of Texas fans left at about the 3:40 mark, but the ones left were rabid. You can't appreciate how loud their sound guy has things turned up on TV either. It is MUCH louder than the Jungle for the effects and music. IDK how much that affected anything other than communication during TO's, but it definitely seemed to wear on us and the refs. I wasn't paying attention to it, but I believe Texas had some extra lighting for their sideline to be able to see better during the TO light shows. I think we had added something late in the game too.
EDIT to add that it has been a few years since I was last at Neville, for all I know our sound man there is just as loud now. Having said that, I went to Trans Siberian Orchestra in this same venue just a few weeks ago, and I think the music and effects in the BB game were just as loud, and possibly louder, than TSO was. TSO did not really bother my ears, but they were ringing somewhat a few times during the game.

A problem with Denver playing the 1 is you dont want Denver's catch and shoot to disappear. He also committed one helluva turnover.

I said to in the game thread Texas never misses an opportunity to play some shitty music

I don't if anyone else noticed this - but from a music/sound perspective it sounded like a NBA game. I don't recall hearing the Texas band at all - and they seemed to play music during play like the NBA does

Those minutes with Denver playing the 1 should have gone to Pegues if he was as advertised but alas, we make do.

I muted the game because of the music and sound effects.

Yes! Also, Pettiford is a really good player, but he's small and wants to create for himself mostly. That's fine when the shots are falling. That looks bad when we have a 16 point lead and he misses a step back three and gets a shot blocked going to the goal where he has zero shot at making it.
I love watching him most of the time, but 2 games in a row he had a stretch where I was like...you have got to take him out.
I'm hoping he gets better and better creating for others and in 5 games I won't be saying we're not great at the 1.
