Next year as we rebuild the roster…yet again…what’s the pitch? how is Golesh going to sell this? Come play here with a brand new quarterback on the heels of a QB who played 5 years and never lived up? A brand new OL? Coaches with atrocious game planning skills and a team that gets worse as the year goes on? I’m not feelin it. Somebody help sell it to me.

“Come to the university for free and get a good education. If you work hard you will see the field. We expect academic excellence in the classroom and will provide you educational support to achieve that. You can be part of building a legacy here at Auburn. If you love this school it will love you back.”

Oh wait.

“Here is a million. Make sure you wear your bling on the field. Welcome to Auburn for the year until you portal out.”

Trying to get OL, DL and RB in the portal is a losing strategy. We will be on the bad end of negotiations. We only have 3 commitments now. Alex brought in a senior QB so we gotta start all over again. I don't see next year being any better.

Playing time I guess. There’s no game or games that can be pointed to yet that show proof of concept.

It’s no different than freeze. We’ll keep this crappy senior quarterback playing all year. Does it matter if he starts out two for 20 he still held the ball yesterday for four seconds waiting on somebody sack him

It's OK to say or think Golesh is most likely done after 2027.

More than reasonable to say 5 probably 6 losses next season:

at Texas
UGA
UA
at ND
at MU
at KU

and this just disregards OU and A&M.

You can't fail this much on your side of the ball bringing in your players.

I do wonder if Byrum has no one in his life to say “hey bud - you might want to lose the bling and the stupid TD celebration until you start winning.” It seems a little tone deaf to do that when we’re down multiple scores late in a game.

Yeah, I was so relieved that we didn't hire Durkin that I was more excited for Golesh than I probably should have been. He's just another guy with another spread scheme and it shows.... just as it did with Freeze and latter day Malzahn. I think it's too big a hole to dig out of and no AD or coach will survive seven losing seasons in a row, which the chances of are pretty likely in a couple of years unless something dramatically changes. Really, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cohen run out of town after this season if things keep playing along as they are trending.

We need to get back to defense and building lines. This spread experiment that's been ongoing at Auburn for nearly two decades needs to end.
