RBs next year

No real experience here, despite the plethra of potential and perceived talent. We were fortunate in '13 and '14 to have Mason and CAP always there with experience. '15 will be all fresh fish. Who will take care of the ball and block well in the spring and summer, and emerge as the guy?

Whoever it is will do a good job. I am not worried about RB. We have seen this offense with a special back (Mason), and with a good back (CAP). I expect the 2015 RB to be anywhere from good to special.....AU-Stacked,SEC-Fricked.

Jovon played Juco, Barber and Roc have seen a few snaps. I'd be more concerned about H-back personally.

Dyer had a great year in 2010 with less experience than Jovon or Roc. I think Mason and Dyer benefited great O-lines.

Barber is the sleeper, IMO. I'm sure there was a reason he didn't get more carries last year, but I am not sure what the reason was. Roc was impressive with the few carries he received. I am not buying the Jovon hype just yet.

Hate to hear that. Dude has a lot of talent. Maybe things will come together for him this year.

Yep... Dyer had a good 2010 behind a OL that returned four starters, several of which were three-year starters. Our OL in 2015 may not be as stout.
To me, how the OL shakes out is going to be more interesting than the RB position.... several guys have started games in the past , including Golson as a true frosh at ole miss.... they gotta gell.

You nailed it for me.
The most important aspect going into this coming season is our OL and our DL. Those two position groups need to play at a much higher level to have a chance to get back to the championship.

Barber has dyslexia. Got the Xs and Os all mixed up when reading blocking scheme.

quote:True on the gel part but unless we get Ivey the OL is pretty well shaken out with P-Mill leaving and Kozan likely not ready for 2015. Barring injuries it looks like.

Well that's the thing for all of them really. Yes, OL is important so whomever is running can succeed. BUT, if JJ starts, he will arguably be slinging it more than Nick did, meaning whichever of our new RBs are playing, he will have to really know how to protect and block.

I wasn't sold on Roc. He outfancies himself.

quote:Given the OL was in the top 12 in the nation in both pass protection and yards per rush I think the OL did well, just not 2013 elite. New guys like Danzey, Golson, and Drago have to really come on. If they do then it falls to last year's major problem, the H Back. Batten, Pettway, or Cox will really have to produce. If not then Gus needs to be more open minded and spread things out if needed to create natural running lanes.
The most important aspect going into this coming season is our OL and our DL
